Mike Glavine – the two-time CAA Coach of the Year (2017, 2018), 2018 NEIBA (New HEAD COACH Northeastern (2015-present) England) Coach of the Year and 2018 ABCA/Diamond Northeast Region Coach of the Year ASSISTANT COACH Northeastern (2007-14) – enters his sixth season as head coach of the Northeastern baseball team in 2020 and 14th season overall with the program, having previously served as the Huskies’ assistant PLAYER Norfolk Tides (AAA, 2003-04) coach and recruiting coordinator. He was named Neil McPhee’s successor as head coach New York Mets (2003) during September 2013 and took the reigns of the program upon McPhee’s retirement at Somerset Patriots (Indy, 2001-02) the conclusion of the 2014 season, following McPhee’s 29th year at Northeastern. Richmond Braves (AAA, 2001) Greenville Braves (AA, 1999-00) Glavine has guided Northeastern to consecutive CAA regular-season titles during 2017 Kinston Indians (A, 1998) and 2018 – the Huskies’ first within any conference since 2005 (America East). He has Columbus RedStixx (A, 1996-97) also led the Huskies back to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2003, earning Burlington Indians (Rookie, 1995) an at-large bid during 2018 after winning a program record, 36 games, including the Drafted by Cleveland Indians (1995, Rd. 22) program’s first three victories against the SEC, and attaining a top-40 RPI. Northeastern (1992-95) HONORS Two-time CAA Coach of the Year (2017, ‘18) Since Glavine took over the baseball program, the Huskies have won a program-best 149 2018 ABCA/Diamond Northeast Region COY games over a five-year stretch heading into the 100th season of baseball at Northeastern 2018 ECAC Coach of the Year University. The Huskies have never had a losing season inside the CAA under Glavine’s 2018 NEIBA Coach of the Year guidance, and Cleveland Indians’ hurler Aaron Civale earned All-America honors in 2016. A total of 24 players have garnered all-league honors and NU has never finished lower Overall CAA Postseason than fifth during Glavine’s tenure. 2015 25-30 14-10 (3rd) CAA 4th place (1-2) 2016 31-27 12-11 (5th) CAA 4th place (2-2) A native of Billerica, Mass., Glavine spent four years as a player at Northeastern and left 2017 29-25 16-7 (1st) CAA 3rd place (1-2) as one of the most prolific hitters in the Huskies’ history. Glavine graduated having hit 28 2018 36-21 17-6 (1st) CAA runner-up (3-2); career home runs and accumulated 110 career RBIs, ranking him third and ninth at the NCAA Raleigh Regional (0-2) time, respectively, in school history. The left-handed slugger also walked 120 times during 2019 28-29 12-12 (T-3rd) CAA 4th place (2-2) his four seasons at NU, ranking him second all-time upon completing his final collegiate 2020 0-3 0-0 campaign. After graduating from Northeastern, Glavine spent 10 seasons in professional baseball after being drafted by the Cleveland Indians during 1995, alternating between AA and AAA levels. During September 2003, the New York Mets called Glavine up to the major leagues, where he played with his older brother and MLB Hall of Famer, Tom. Glavine became the third Northeastern alumni to ever play in the major leagues, joining George Yankowski (1942, 1949) and Carlos Pena (2001-14).

Retiring from the pro ranks in 2004, Glavine now resides in Lexington, Mass., with his wife, Carissa, their two daughters, Ava and Sophia, and their son, Luke. 2020 SEASON STATS
