“ a Sumptuous Album. ” Le Courrier, Roderic Mounir Press Kit “ Sensory, original and astonishing, something totally out of the ordinary, the DVD + CD box conceals a fireworks display of filmed city scenes wired to electro music backing to create a poetic universe you must first experience before you fully understand. ” TSR / Téléjournal 12:45, Laurent Huguenin “ A sumptuous album. ” Le Courrier, Roderic Mounir “ Two artists have pooled their talents to create a rare and original masterwork. ” 20 Minutes, Myriam Genier “ Kid Chocolat and Pascal Greco get together in “ Super 8 ” to produce a most enchanting audiovisual creation. ” La Liberté, Jean-Philippe Bernard “ The two artists create something rare : the total osmosis of image and sound. It will be very hard to beat. In all it is a quite unique object, one of those few masterpieces of art that you never tire of seeing and hearing, to a level where images become sound and sounds become image. ” Tribune de Genève, Luca Sabbatini “ While Pascal Greco’s camera explores contemporary declensions of visual psychedelism, Kid Chocolat’s music, built on his dark and sombre beat, digs deeper into the anguished spirit of his previous album, “ Zombiparti ! ”. Entrancing ! ” Profil Femme, Nicolas Julliard An outstanding object celebrating the fusion of cinema and music In the sixties, and more recently in the nineties, musicians and filmmakers worked together in order to make films inspired by music and vice versa. Musician Kid Chocolat and filmmaker Pascal Greco have decided to bring this idea back to life and created Super 8, a concept soundtrack and film. The first one composed music for the second’s images who adapted his montage which influenced again the musical composition. The result ? A film shot in Super 8 ( of course ) without any digital alterations, which combines a warm atmosphere and a modern view. The soundtrack is made with rough materials and sparsely scored: guitars, vocals and synth are used to emphasize this strange universe. The onlooker is confronted by tantalising glimpses of an enchantingly alien life- style. It’s not so far from the work of Richard Lester with the Beatles or David Lynch with Angelo Badalamenti. The Super 8 movie has some similarity with the visual movie “ Koyannisqatsi ” set with a music by Philip Glass and product by Copolla and Lucas in the early 80. Super 8 is more than an album and more than a film, it’s a genuine concept. Avail- able in both DVD and CD. Look or listen or both, it’s a fascinating modern artwork to experience. “ The two protagonists exchange influences : luminous www.kidchocolat.ch stills of city scenes and electronic sound, both classical and www.pascalgreco.com www.super-8.tv bizarrely distorted. The result is soaring, stressful, strange. Label : Poor Records A brilliantly original idea, something one so seldom sees Selling price advised : 19,90 Euro these days. ” Matin Bleu, Laurent Flückiger Those who followed Kid Chocolat from the beginning know his taste for films. After a first ep dedicated to Peter Sellers, the musician composed a tribute to the italian horror master, Dario Argento. Recently he tried to make the zombies dance in a funky ballroom with his album “ Zombiparti ! ”. He also compiled several swiss and french artists in a tribute album to Grauzone. Pascal Greco is a filmmaker, a vj, a photographer and an artistic director. He published his first photographs book about Japan “ Kyoshu, nostalgie du pays ” in 2007 and directed critically acclaimed films such as “ Swiss Fashion Design ” and “ Tokyo Streets ”, both available on DVD. “ An intriguing, aesthetic exploration of art, of magnificent images coupled with a superb music track. Picture and sound take you on a trip to freedom. 4, rue Joyce. EMlstma Honner ii The Teaches of Peaches: Rethinking the Sex Hierarchy and the Limits of Gender Discourse Christina Bonner Master of Arts, Program in Communication and Culture Ryerson and York University 2010 Abstract: The goal of this Major Research paper is an exploration detailing how Canadian Electro-Pop artist Peaches Nisker transcends nonnative gender and sex politics through perfonnance and frames the female erotic experience in a way that not only disempowers heterosexuality but also provides a broader more inclusive sexual politics. Through this analysis I focus specifically on three distinct spheres; perfonnance, fandom and use of technology to argue that her critique of sexual conventions provides an cxpansive and transgressive new defmition of female sexuality. Musical perfonnances by female artists, particularly icons such as Madonna and Britney Spears, have demonstrated popular culture's inability to legitimize quecr and non compulsory heterosexual practices.

volume 8 - issue 5 - tuesday, october 3, 2010 - uvm, burlington, vt uvm.edu/~watertwr by erikaweisz It seemed like Rally the Catamount had the world at his feet: Straight-A student, handsome SGA senator, and let’s face it: the coolest cat on campus. “Rally was an awesome guy,” remembers senior Syl- vester Goupin. “He used to walk around with that goofy grin on his face, break into choreographed routines on the steps of the Bailey-Howe, and cheer up all the stressed-out students by giving them hugs and high-!ves.” Such happy times are a thing of the past for Rally Cat, and now that brilliant smile is more of a sour puss. Once known for his cheer and charm, Rally is now famous his “bad boy” attitude and hard-partying lifestyle. But what happened to the guy who used to bring his own bowl to Honors College ice cream socials? A source close to Rally’s family reveals that the allegations of a "ing with the Champlain College Beaver were indeed true. Known for her erratic be- havior and promiscuous nature, it was no surprise to Rally’s close friends and family when he started experimenting with drugs and alcohol. “We knew something was re- ally wrong when Rally missed a hockey game to go on another Beaver Bender,” reveals a source. “#at was the breaking point for Rally. Beaver was just trouble.” But the trouble didn’t stop there. Fall- ing in with the wrong crowd was just the Rally Cat attempts to charm his way out of a bind.

  • Interview Kris Menace
Interview Kris Menace In 2013, you had several consecutive releases, including the purely instrumental 'Electric Horizon', as well as the internationally praised album Features – your first vocal album, with artists such as Miss Kittin and Unai. Now in 2014, you already released various remixes, a ground-breaking work titled 'The Entirety of Matter', soon to be followed by the eagerly anticipated 'Menace & Lord', a collaboration with MTV Award winner Simon Lord. With such an enormous output: What is your inspiration? I'm inspired most by sounds and emotions. Everything I write, every studio production is attributed to intense emotions that I transform into sounds. Sometimes a sound triggers a certain feeling that I then try to capture. I often work with the translation of visual imagination into sounds and vice versa. In the end, the inspiration always comes from life itself, impressions that I process and put into tracks. What is your current set up? I mainly use Steinberg's Cubase as a sequencer. Akai's Renaissance has become my drum station, one that I hold very dear. I use all kinds of synths, from different hardware to Access' Virus to old analogue devices. As mics I use mostly Neumann in combination with a Neve 1073. As compressors, I utilize lots hardware such as Urei, Pultec, but also Plug-Ins, like Waves. I try to combine the analogue and digital world in my productions and use everything I can to get a sound that I can feel. How do you utilize the MPC Renaissance in your studio? In a very basic way, I must admit.
