8° Trofeo Della Mole 12° TROFEO DELLA MOLE Torneo Internazionale ITF – NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour 4 - 9 agosto 2014 Circolo della Stampa – Sporting, Torino Dal 4 al 9 agosto il Circolo della Stampa – Sporting ospita la 12^ edizione del Trofeo della Mole, il Torneo Internazionale ITF – NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour organizzato dall’A.S.D. Pentasport e dall’ASC Torino in collaborazione con l’A.S.D. Sport Di Più e il Comitato Regionale CIP (Comitato Paralimpico Italiano). L’evento, che negli anni si è ritagliato un posto di rilievo nel panorama internazionale del tennis in carrozzina, riconferma il montepremi a 16.500 dollari e coinvolge i migliori esponenti a livello mondiale della specialità. Anche quest’anno la manifestazione beneficia del patrocinio della Regione Piemonte, della Provincia di Torino, della Città di Torino e del Coni Regionale Piemonte che negli anni l’hanno fortemente voluta e sostenuta fin dalla prima edizione nel 2003. IL TORNEO Il torneo, di categoria ITF 2 Series e con un montepremi di 16.500 dollari, è uno degli undici tornei internazionali (compresi i Futures) organizzati in Italia e appartenente a un circuito internazionale che conta più di 150 tappe in tutto il mondo. Alle gare torinesi prenderanno parte un centinaio di giocatori, tra uomini e donne, in rappresentanza di circa venti nazioni. Il Trofeo della Mole prevede la disputa del singolare e del doppio sia maschile che femminile, più i rispettivi tabelloni di consolazione. Le gare avranno inizio lunedì 4 agosto agosto con finali previste per sabato 9 agosto. I GIOCATORI L’entry list del torneo torinese include una decina di atleti fra i top 20 del Ranking mondiale ITF. Nel maschile i più alti in classifica sono il venticinquenne belga Joachim Gerard - n. 5 del mondo e campione uscente oltre che finalista nel 2012 - e il trentunenne olandese Maikel Scheffers, n. 7. A scendere in classifica, l’australiano Adam Kellerman, n. 12 ITF, e il ventinovenne britannico Marc Mccarroll, n. 13 ITF e finalista lo scorso anno, seguito dai connazionali David Phillipson, n. 17 ITF, e il sedicenne Alfie Hewett, n. 19 ITF. Fedelissimo all’evento torinese, anche quest’anno prenderà parte al torneo il cinquantunenne austriaco Martin Legner, n. 22 e icona del tennis in carrozzina. Fra gli altri sarà presente anche quest’anno Daniel Caverzaschi, n. 56 del mondo, che scenderà in campo sull’innovativa carrozzina Advantage, presentata lo scorso anno durante il torneo torinese, di cui il ventunenne spagnolo è diventato testimonial. Per quanto riguarda la rappresentativa azzurra, fra gli altri scenderanno in campo il quarantenne bolognese Fabian Mazzei - plurititolato n. 50 del ranking mondiale con la recente vittoria in singolo e doppio a Firenze oltre a quella di Albarella e Padova e alla finale di Zagabria - Antonio Cippo, n. 96 ITF, il venticinquenne torinese Ivan Lion, n. 146 ITF, e Luca Arca, n. 150 ITF. Nel femminile il tabellone sarà capeggiato dalle due olandesi Marjolein Buis e Sharon Walraven, rispettivamente n. 6 e n. 8 ITF, seguite dalla britannica Lucy Shuker, n. 9 ITF. Seguono la statunitense Emmy Kaiser, n. 15 ITF, e l’azzurra Marianna Lauro, n. 25 ITF. Marjolein Buis, ventiseienne di Nijmegen è la vincitrice del torneo internazionale di Firenze in finale sull’azzurra Marianna Lauro, trentaquattrenne sarda con all’attivo la vittoria nel torneo internazionale di Madrid. Fra le italiane, in campo anche la torinese Stefania Galletti (n. 69 ITF) e Denis Boldi, n. 116. Tennissers delen steeds meer hun eigen tijd in, onder hun eigen voorwaarden. De samenleving verandert en de KNLTB verandert mee. Als aanjager van tennis in Nederland wil de KNLTB zo veel mogelijk mensen meer laten tennissen en er voor zorgen dat zij dat ook blijven doen. Dit doen we door alle partijen die bij onze sport betrokken zijn te inspireren en te verbinden, door de zichtbaarheid van en de beleving van tennis te vergroten én daarnaast goed te luisteren naar de wensen en behoeften van onze tennissers en verenigingen. Met grote topevenementen, als het ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament en het Libéma Open, vergroten we de populariteit en zichtbaarheid van de tennissport. Fernandez turned pro in 2008 and had his first major breakthrough in 2011, when he won the singles gold at the Parapan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. Fernandez also represented Argentina in the 2012 Paralympics in London and in Rio in 2016, where he reached the singles quarterfinals both times. He has played for his country in the World Team Cup 11 times as a pro player and as a junior player. In doubles, Fernandez peaked at No. 5 in the world in May 2016 and holds two Grand Slam doubles titles. He has been in a wheelchair since he was just over a year old, when he fell out of a chair and suffered a spinal cord injury.     The News Bulletin of the International Tennis Federation www.itftennis.com Juniors begin Down Under The first junior Grand Slam of 2012, the Australian Open Junior Championships, got under way on Sunday in Melbourne, Australia. Top seed in the girls’ event is Irina Khromacheva (RUS), whose best result in the Grand Slams last year was a runner-up finish at Wimbledon. She will be looking to go one better in Melbourne but will come up against some strong competition. Eugenie Bouchard (CAN), the second seed, was a semifinalist at the tournament 12 months ago. She had many strong showings on the 2011 Luke Saville (AUS) circuit, with perhaps her best performance winning the Copa Gerdau, a Grade 23 January 2012 Issue 4 (Photo: Susan Mullane) A event in March. Third seed in the tournament is Anett Kontaveit (EST). Winner of the prestigious Orange Bowl just last November, Kontaveit will be confident of mounting a strong challenge for the title. Top seed in the boys’ event is Luke Saville (AUS), last year’s runner-up. He will be looking for his second junior Grand Slam after claiming his maiden title at Wimbledon last summer. He has started the year strongly with a run through to the final of the Loy Yang Traralgon International this week, narrowly losing out to Filip Peliwo (CAN) in the Championship decider. Thiago Monteiro (BRA) is seeded second for the event and will be looking to improve on his first round elimination in 2011. His best showing on the circuit last year included winning the title at the Copa Gerdau.

Zitvolleybalteam Omniworld gehandicapte sportploeg van Almere 2006 en op maandag 5 februari is het ook verkozen tot sportploeg van Flevoland 2006. Natuurlijk worden niet alle nominaties gehonoreerd. Zo lazen we over de “Laureus-nominatie” voor Esther Vergeer het volgende: BARCELONA - Rolstoeltennisster Esther Vergeer is voor de vierde keer genomineerd voor de Laureus Awards, de Oscars van de sportwereld. Vergeer, die in 2006 als tennisster ongeslagen bleef, is een van de kandidaten in de categorie mindervalide sporters. In 2002 won ze deze onderscheiding.De winnaars in de zeven categorieën zijn op 2 april tijdens een gala in Barcelona bekendgemaakt. De Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability is toegekend aan de skiër Martin Braxenthaler.
