Swallows Fleeting Joe is currently a candidate for the master of music in wind band conducting and II. Sparrows Bickering serves as a graduate teaching assistant with the University of Illinois Bands. He recently III. Vultures Looming completed his undergraduate career at the Eastman School of Music and University of IV. Capercaillies Courting Rochester, where he received degrees in music education, clarinet performance, and V. Roadrunners Racing mathematics. While there, Joe put together a wide variety of ensembles, ran a weekly VI. Phoenix Rising reading orchestra, and was co-artistic director of the Eastman Clarinet Choir. A native of Massachusett s, Joe continues to work with ensembles near home. As a composer, he Woodwinds has had works premiered by the Nashua Chamber Orchestra and the Bay View Music Festival. Costa, bass clarinet Andrea R. DiOrio, North Central College, Clarinet Faculty JOAN TOWER Wings for Solo Clarinet Andrea R. DiOrio is among Chicago’s most highly sought after clarinetists. (b. 1938) DiOrio has performed in over fi fteen operas with Andrea R. DiOrio, clarinet the Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra. She has also performed with many orchestras, including the Grant Park Orchestra, Chicago Philharmonic, Quad Cities Symphony IAN HOLLOWAY Die Kunst Der Klarinett e Orchestra, Chicago Opera Theater, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Ravinia Festival (b. 1952) Variations on ‘Colonel Bogey’ Orchestra, Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, South Bend Symphony Orchestra, and I. Introduction Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her orchestral work, Andrea is the II. Serenade Director of Operations and clarinetist of the mixed chamber ensemble, Picosa. The III. VASILIJ AGAPKIN A Slavic Farwell DiOrio earned a Master of Music Performance in Clarinet from Northwestern (1884-1964) University, where she studied with Russell Dagon, and a Bachelor of Music Performance trans. JOE CLARK in Clarinet, with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied with J. David Harris. DiOrio also studied with Charlene Zimmerman and John GUSTAV HOLST First Suite in E-fl at Bruce Yeh. She feels very fortunate to have had such great teachers and mentors, and is (1874-1934) I. Sarah Nowlin (Clarinet) is the former Director of Bands at The Summit Country Day School in Cincinnati, Ohio where she spent 16 years building a successful band program in an independent school environment. She has served as Instructor of Clarinet, and Director of Intermediate Bands at the Interlochen Arts Academy Summer Institute. Ms. Nowlin has performed with the Sorg
