4. Motions For Election of Speaker (i) Shri Narendra Modi moved the following motion :-
“That Shri Om Birla, a member of this House, be chosen as the Speaker of this House.”
Shri Raj Nath Singh seconded the motion.
(ii) Shri Amit Shah moved the following motion :-
“That Shri Om Birla, a member of this House, be chosen as the Speaker of this House.”
Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari seconded the motion.
(iii) Shri Arjun Munda moved the following motion:-
“That Shri Om Birla, a member of this House, be chosen as the Speaker of this House.”
Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' seconded the motion.
(iv) Shri Arvind Ganpat Sawant moved the following motion :-

(v) Shri Pinaki Mishra moved the following motion:-

(xiii) Shri Sudip Bandyopadhyay moved the following motion :-
“That Shri Om Birla, a member of this House, be chosen as the Speaker of this House.”
Shri Nama Nageshwar Rao seconded the motion.
The motion moved by Shri Narendra Modi and seconded by Shri Raj Nath Singh was unanimously adopted and Shri Om Birla was chosen as the Speaker. The Prime Minister and leaders of some parties conducted Shri Om Birla to the Chair.
11.15 A.M. 5. Compliments to Speaker Pro tem The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, on behalf of the House, complimented the Speaker Pro tem, Panel of Chairpersons and Secretary General for the smooth conduct of business in Lok Sabha.
