This performance report provides information on the number of Road Traffic Collisions (RTC) involving motorcycles that both and the Scottish Fire and Rescue have attended.

1. Background

Both Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have statutory responsibilities to attend, assist, and investigate Road Traffic Collisions in Scotland. Both Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been requested to provide further information on Road Traffic Collisions involving motorcycles for the Public Safety Committee. The motorcycle collisions that the SFRS are called to are usually due to a request from Police Scotland or the Scottish Ambulance Service and make up a very small percentage of the accidents we attend.

2. Considerations

2.1. In 2014-2015 SFRS attended 56 RTC. 2.2. In 2015-2016 SFRS attended 71 RTC. 2.3. In 2016-2017 SFRS attended 67 RTC. 2.4. In 2017 -2018 SFRS attended 58 RTC. 2.5. Between 1st April 2018 to 31 August 2018 SFRS attended 21 RTC 2.6. This is a total of 273 RTC that SFRS have attended: 2.6.1. 98 of all these RTC occurred in and Teith. 2.6.2. 40 of all these RTC occurred in . 2.6.3. 38 of all these RTC occurred in Forth and Endrick. 2.6.4. 33 of all these RTC occurred in West. 2.6.5. 31 of all these RTC occurred in Stirling North. 2.6.6. 18 of all these RTC occurred in /. 2.6.7. 15 of all these RTC occurred in Stirling East. 2.7. Out of the 273 RTC attended by SFRS 10 involved motorcycles. 2.8. The location of these motorcycle collisions occurred in , , , , , , and . 2.9. In 2014-2015 there were 10 fatal RTC in Forth Valley that Police Scotland attended and 2 motorcyclists were killed. 2.10. In 2015-2016 there were 11 fatal RTC in Forth Valley that Police Scotland attended and 4 motorcyclists were killed. 2.11. In 2016-2017 there were 5 fatal RTC in Forth Valley that Police Scotland attended and zero motorcyclists were killed. 2.12. In 2017-2018 there were 6 fatal RTC in Forth Valley that Police Scotland attended and zero motorcyclists were killed. 2.13. 2018-present there have been 2 fatal RTC in Forth Valley that Police Scotland have attended and zero motorcyclists were killed.
