The site is located on the junction of the A30 London Road and Maultway North, which is very close to the Jolly Farmer roundabout on the A30. 1.2 The principle of residential development on the site and the access is considered to be acceptable.     Surrey Heath Borough Council Ward Boundaries Review – submission by Cllr Rodney Bates (Lab member for Old Dean) Ward blocks Firstly, I agree with the original approach of the Council’s Governance Working Group which decided to split the borough into different blocks. I would therefore encourage the commission to look at the following areas (the named wards are from the current boundaries):- (a) St.Michael’s and Watchetts – to cover 4 Cllrs overall – this would be no change (b) Old Dean, Town and St.Paul’s – to cover 6 Cllrs from the current 7 (c) Heatherside and Parkside – to cover 5 Cllrs from the current 6 (d) Frimley, Frimley Green, Mytchett & Deepcut – to cover 8 Cllrs from the current 9 (e) Bisley, West End, Chobham, Lightwater, Bagshot and Windlesham – to cover 11 from the current 14 Each block would be within the 10% variance for 34 Cllrs. Taking each of these in turn:- (a) St.Michael’s and Watchetts I have no objection to the current ward boundaries for St.Michael’s and Watchetts so that both remain as two members wards. They are currently significantly under represented but a reduction in Cllrs would then put their numbers with minimal variance. (b) Old Dean, Town and St.Paul’s I support most of the Council submission namely that there should be 3 two member wards retaining the same names of Old Dean, Town and St.Paul’s. I also agree that there should be a transfer of electors from St.Paul’s to Town as well as Town to Old Dean to ensure that all three areas are within the 10% variance and that should be along the lines suggested.

    1960s Workshop Aim of the workshop to give an overview of what it was like to live in the 1960s through objects (when hiring 1960 Loans box) and photographs. Slide 1 . After the Second World War there was not enough houses because many homes had been destroyed by the bombing. London County Council put pressure on surrounding areas create homes for them. Many had been placed in temporary accommodation called pre fabs. Camberley was one of the places chosen to rehouse some of the homeless or those living in poor or temporary houses. Slide 3 and Slide 4 Many still living in them in Camberley in 1960s only supposed to be temporary homes. The Old Dean estate was planned initially for local people. However in late 1950s LCC earmarked it as an area to rehouse Londoners. The first house finished in 1953. By 1964 1177 houses had been built. In 1961 Cordwalles School was built .The population had ew rapidly in Cam- berley with large influx of labour. Private houses were also built on the estates and grounds of some of the Victorian villas as people chose to move out out the city and commute greater distances to work. Slide 5 Scooters After the war men were away at the war came home in 1945 People had also been put of having families until after the war. When the war ended there was a huge rise in the birth rate. This was called a Baby boom it lasted from 1945 to the end of the end of the1950s. In 1960 the baby boomers were becoming teenagers.

The area is distinct from the Old Dean and we have little to do with it. We have much more in common with the Town Ward. Historically the Diamond Ridge and Kings Ride area was part of the Town. We have never been part of the Old Dean. The Diamond Ridge woods provides a natural and substantial boundary between the two areas and there is very little social interaction between the residents of Diamond Ridge and Kings Ride area, and the Old Dean.

Surrey Heath BC has reviewed their arrangements for enforcing Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the contaminated land regime, and associated actions. This follows and takes account of changes in the statutory guidance in respect of the regime, introduced in 2012. The revised contaminated land strategy takes account of work undertaken under the previous strategy as well as the Council’s regulatory, development control and land ownership responsibilities. 2. The strategy recognises that contaminated land issues in the Surrey Heath area are likely to be limited because of the relative lack of industrialisation, the lack of major aquifers and the major areas of undeveloped heathland. However the presence of the MoD, the normal infrastructure activities supporting development e.g. waste disposal, gas works, transport activities, some surface water features and some limited commercial and industrial activities will contribute to the potential for land contamination and the need for a robust strategy.
