his week, the world Jewish community will both mourn and rejoice consecutively related to a common singular event and set of incredible obvious miracles. TSunday is a somber day called “the day of remembrance” that commemorates and brings to our attention and consciousness, and to so many families the presence and image of those beloved whose life was extinguished in a brutal way while selflessly defending the Jewish Holy Land of Israel and G-d’s Chosen Jewish people. Cemeteries will be packed, memorial prayers will be chanted, many tears will be shed and many broken hearts again experience that hollow abyss of unhealed darkness that will always remain empty with an endless, unquenched yearning in their inner souls. Segueing from that planting and irrigating with tears will come the harvesting with joy. A deep and exulting sense of gratitude, thankfulness and praise to Hashem will give evident purpose and meaning to the self-sacrifice of so many as we will recognize G-d’s miracle in setting the stage for the world to formally recognize JEWISH sovereignty over the JEWISH Holy land. We will understand and recognize why we the Jewish people do not have to believe in miracles. You only believe in something that you do not know but rely on another sense and dimension of determination. We KNOW experientially that miracles are an inevitable, realistic and constant part of our existence. We are a miracle. In the natural process of history and social anthropology we should have disappeared a long time ago. For the stones, paths, caverns, vineyards and olive groves whose golden reflections and transcendent sounds had been concealed and silenced for 2000 years, burnt, destroyed, ploughed over and buried, using every conceivable means to eradicate its existence even from memory, to once again illuminate with a translucent shine and flourish like a verdant garden is a true miracle in motion. Israel is not different and unique because it is ours. It is different and unique because it is the Chosen land that G-d bequeathed to His chosen children. It is the land about which the Torah testifies “the eyes of G-d are upon it from the beginning to the end of the year” – constantly. Anyone who travels to Israel can feel its special vibrations as soon as you get out of the plane. It is an ephemeral reality that defies logic, nature and ecological measurements though it permeates the air itself. There is somebody somewhere living today or in the eternal annals of Jewish history that can point to every single space in the holy land and relate some miraculous event that transpired in that particular place. From the slave markets of Athens to the inquisition torture chambers of Torquemada and the gas chambers and ovens of the Nazis, Jerusalem was always on our lips as Israel was always in our hearts and minds. Israel is a land that does not only exist in the particular geographic Middle East of its territorial borders but is located and lives in every single Jew wherever they are in the world. I remember looking out the window as our plane came in over the Mediterranean over Tel Aviv descending into Ben Gurion airport the first time I came to ISRAEL in 1974. The planes public address system boomed not with announcements to fasten our seatbelts or to remain seated but greeted us with the happy song and lyrics “Heivinu Sholom Aleichem”. Without planning or staging when we reached the bottom of the stairs, I dropped to the ground to passionately kiss the asphalt. It was one of those moments that forever will remain etched in the DNA of my being. It really does not matter how you love Israel as long as you love it, support it, are proud of it, defend it, exalt it, pray for it and are part of it as it is part of you. Thank you G-d for Israel, an important milestone and sin qua non prerequisite in our final March to redemption with Moshiach and building the Third and Eternal Beit Hamikdash. 17 Construction Updates Keeping you up to date on our exciting progress Construction has begun!!!
