Swansea LAWSON, Hannah Abertawe Swansea Vote Abertawe HANNAH LAWSON for Castle Ward I was born in Castle Ward and have spent most of my working life in the City Centre. The twelve years I worked for Amgueddfa Genedlaethol y Glannau/National Waterfront Museum have given me considerable experience in Swansea‘s cultural heritage and tourism. As a practising artist and musician, I passionately believe that the arts are central both to personal wellbeing and creating a vibrant city. I have very strong links with the artistic community in Swansea, am a Director of Swansea Print Workshop, and a governor of St. Helen's Cllr Erika Kirchner, Cllr Fiona Gordon and Cllr David Phillips with Labour candidate Hannah Lawson Primary School. I was very actively involved in the trade union movement, as a rep and union official – both local and national. I was Chair of a PCS branch covering seven public sector sites across ; and am very proud of standing up for our lowest paid members, resulting in a successful high-profile industrial dispute that secured a victory for weekend working staff. I am interested in environmental justice issues, sustainability and biodiversity and strongly committed to action on climate change. I believe that urban green spaces are vital in improving physical and mental health, as well as community cohesion, and have been working with the local community to re-establish Primrose Hill Park in Mount Pleasant. I am committed to social justice and grassroots activism, particularly to providing opportunities to the under- represented. Through Unite the Union Community Branch, I Swansea currently campaign on employment issues, particularly unemployment and job insecurity and the related problems of poverty and housing – especially important in our current (and Abertawe Tackling fly-tipping on Verandah Street post-) Covid world. I believe my employment and life experience has provided me with the skills and expertise to be an effective councillor. I am very energetic and believe I will provide a strong voice for the people of Castle, working alongside Labour colleagues to continue to improve residential areas.
