During 2013, we further grew our unmatched concerts global fan base by 10 million fans, attracting almost 60 million fans to our concerts. This tremendous growth fueled our sponsorship and ticketing businesses with Ticketmaster managing nearly 4400 million total tickets in 2013. Combined, we delivered a record year for revenue, AOI and free cash flow. Our results demonstrate the effectiveness of our business model, establishing Live Nation as what we believe to be the number one player in each of our businesses, with concerts driving our flywheel, which is then monetized across our high margin on-site, sponsorship and ticketing businesses. Strong Fan Demand for Live Events We continue to see the tremendous power of live events, with strong global consumer demand. Research shows that live events are a high priority for discretionary spending, and over 80% of our fans surveyed indicate that they plan on attending the same or more events in 2014 as in 2013. Another sign of the strength of our business is that 85% of Live Nation’s fan growth came organically, from our promoting more shows in amphitheaters, arenas and stadiums; from launching new festivals; and from establishing operatioons in new markets. -

Soon it became clear that the episode was only a prank, based on false information disseminated over social media. The hoax was fuelled by a video clip on Facebook, which showed armed boys in a driving car, swinging their weapons. The clear relationship in this case between social media and public order is not new. Consider, for instance, the police shooting in Ferguson; the London riots of 2011; and the social unrest, social media hoaxes, and false news regarding the fire in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Recent advances in digitization have resulted in an increasing number of parties involved in security and safety issues. Security and digitization often intersect in the domain of cybercrime, but their intersection also includes issues of surveillance and maintaining law and order. This paper focusses on the role of mayors in the Netherlands in the preservation of public order and safety when the internet and social media are involved. Dutch mayors have several administrative powers that can be used in the prevention of disorder in local public life. -

Twitcident has been developed to process and filter this information in real-time for interested parties by monitoring a set of predefined topics, exploiting humans as sensors. An analysis of the relevant information by an operator can result in an estimation of severity, and an operator can act accordingly. However, among all relevant and useful content that is extracted, also a lot of irrelevant noise is present. Our goal is to improve the filter in such a way that the majority of information pre- sented by Twitcident is relevant. Thompson Jr., Dr. A.J. (Lonnie) Strickland, John E. Gamble and Margaret A. Peteraf. Data for this study were gathered from the organization’s internal documents including Live Nation’s 2013 Annual Report and the Investor Relations section of their website as well as third-party research, news clippings and industry analysis. The report also calls upon the author’s experience in the music promotion market as a booking agent and marketing specialist. The research revealed an organization executing a well-crafted strategy to vertically integrate the unique value chain elements of their main concert business. As a result, Live Nation has catapulted past their competition in the U.S. concert and event promotion market as well as the global online ticketing industry where they hold commanding market shares in each. Despite this success, there is still opportunity for the publically traded company to grow and improve.
