Engineer, Electrical Section, KSEB, Keerampara. ============================================= No.CGRF-CR/Comp.20/2009-2010/ Dated: 4/11/09 ORDER M/s. Reliance Infratel Ltd., 38/628 A&P Arcade, S.A. Road, Kadavanthara, Kochi – 682 016. (new connection under Ele. Section, Keerampara) filed a complaint ( No.20) before this Forum on 18/5/09. In the petition, along with other points, the petitioner stated that there is no response from the field officer for providing power connection as per norms, after making payment as per Demand note issued by the officer. Subsequently, the Statement of Facts from the Asst. Executive Engineer was called for. The same was filed on 3/6/09. In the Statement of Facts, along with other points, the AEE stated that the work is now going on in the section. Necessary request for sanction for P.T.C.C. approval, etc. The work will be completed very soon and the complaint of M/s. Reliance Infratel, Kochi will be rectified very soon. The petitioner was afforded an opportunity of being heard his complaint on 29.7.09. During the hearing, both the sides reiterated the main points in their respective written versions. The Respondent gave the written submission that the service will be effected immediately as per rules. As per submission dtd. 20/10/09 of AEE, Ele. Sub Division, Kothamangalam the service connection to M/s. Reliance was effected on 24/8/09 with consumer No. 11717 under Keerampara Electrical Section. Heard both parties. 2 The service connection to the petitioner was effected on 24/8/09 without undue delay, with reasonable satisfaction of the petitioner. Hence, the petitioner’s grievance does not exist any more. The petition is disposed off accordingly. Dated this the 4th day of November, 2009. The aquifer systems in Kerala are being mapped as part of this Programme and this report pertains to aquifer mapping of the hard rock terrains of Ernakulam district. The target scale of investigation is 1:50,000 and envisages detailed study of the aquifer systems up to 200 m depth, to ascertain their resource, water quality, sustainability, and finally evolve an aquifer management plan. The report titled “Aquifer Mapping and Management plan for hard rock terrains, Ernakulam district, Kerala” gives a complete and detailed scientific account of the various aspects of the hard rock aquifers in the area including its vertical and horizontal dimensions, flow directions, quantum and quality of the resources, of both - the shallow and deeper zones of the hard rock aquifers.

College of Engineering, Kothamangalam, Kerala Abstract : The water quality index (WQI) is a single number that expresses the quality of water by integrating the water quality variables. This paper deals with the assessment of ground water quality in and around Kothamangalam Taluk, Kerala state of India. For calculating the WQI the following 12 physic-chemical parameters such as pH, Electric Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Alkalinity, Chlorides, Total Hardness, Dissolved Oxygen, Fluoride, Calcium, Magnesium, Sulphate and Nitrate have been considered. WQI obtained ranges from 26 to 9199.977. High value of WQI is mainly due to higher concentrations of iron which makes the water unsuitable for drinking. Introduction The fresh water is of vital concern for mankind since it is directly linked to human welfare. Ground water is an important natural source of water supply all over the world. Its use in irrigation, industrial and domestic usage continues to increase where perennial surface water source are absent. The modern civilization, over exploitation, rapid industrialization and increased population has lead to fast degradation of our environment.
