SHYMON ANTO residing at Kochery Hose, Elambakappilly (PO) Koovappady, Ernakulum District, Kerala. Shri. SHYMON ANTO was granted Letter of Intent over an area of 0.9133 Ha of Patta land in Sy.No.338/1A/20/D&D2, Keerampara Village, Kothamangalam Taluk of Ernakulam District, Kerala State under 3(1) and 9 of rule Kerala Minor Mineral Concession Rule 2015. • Shri.SHYMON ANTO, OWNER of the quarry Permit area. • Shri. SHYMON ANTO is the Authorized signatory for the Quarry operation. Quarry Permit details: • Extent of quarry: Area 0.9133 Ha • Type of mine Permit area: Patta Land. • Letter of Intent issued by Department of Mining and Geology on DOE/2800/E2/17 2. INTRODUCTION OFTHEPROJECT/BACK GROUND INFORMATION The Environmental Clearance application or quarrying of Granite building stone applied by Shri.Shymon Anto, Kochery House, Elambakappilly P O, Koovappady ,Ernakulum Dist. , is situated in Sy.No-338/1A/20/D&D2, at Keerampara Village, Kothamangalam Taluk, Ernakulum District, Kerala State. The subject area is owned by the proponent. The subject and is Patta Land and does not belong to government or reserved for any other purpose. The subject area is also not fit for agriculture and is away from public properties and there is no objection of the public or any litigation. The Quarrying plan is being prepared under3 (1) and 9ofrule Kerala Minor Mineral Concession Rule 2015”&the same is approved by the office of the Department of Mining and Geology, Ernakulum .The applicant that to obtain Environmental clearance in accordance with EIA Notification 2006 and its amendments thereafter, from DEIAA, constituted in accordance with the notification dated January15th2016 by Ministry of Environment &Forest, Govt. Of India. These are a is found to have prominent exposure of building stone covering most of Permit area. Detailed study of the area has been done by the applicant by sampling exposed blocks of building stone and depth of the surrounding working pit. In view of the proposal for development and production of building stone, the applicant end stop produce with a maximum capacity of 27,674 TPA by carrying out medium scale quarrying by engaging’s emi-mechanized .Opencast method of quarrying. The quarrying plan is prepared for an extent of 0.9133 Ha and the application for Environmental clearance along with this report is here with submitted to DEIAA constituted by MOEF for obtaining Environmental clearance. Present Proposal: The present proposal is submitted to the District Level Environmental Impact Assessment Authority, notified by ministry of Environment & Forest under the EIA Notification 2006 as per the order soft he honorable Supreme Court dated 27.02.2012 directing that lesse of Minor Minerals including their renewal for an area of less than 5.0habegranted/renewed after getting Environmental Clearance from MOEF and recent Notification of January 15, 2016 of MoEF, Govt of India. Need for the project: Rapid industrialization and grow thin infrastructure has made global as well as domestic demand for building stone. So number of building stone Manufacturing quarries & crushing units with Manufactured-s and Units (industries) are coming up in this sector. Building stone is the chief rawmaterial in this sector, for building constructions & road formations. The size & quality parameters for supply of the mineral will be as per the requirements of the user industry. Based on the demand, the applicant intend produce there quired quantum of building stone for the developmental projects. As per EIA notification 2006 project proponent issue Submitting the proposal to get clearance for production capacity of 27,674 tons/annum from District Level Environmental Appraisal committee /District level Environmental Impact Assessment Authority of Kerala constituted by MOEF, GOI for the purpose of grant quarry Permit for which notification for grant is issued. The extent of the area is small and shall be worked by semi-mechanized method. Employment potential: The proposed Man power is around 12 including technical & professional competent staff experienced in quarrying &allied activities. The employees will be assigned job relating to drilling, the handling of the building stone and waste & other routine works in the quarry .The quarry shall provide direct employment to 10 people. The working hours at the quarry will be 8 hours/day for 300 days/year. 3. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The site is geographically located between North Latitude 10°5'11.72"N to10°5'12.59" N and East longitude 76°39'37.75"E to 76°39'37.97"E. In the field studies it is observed that the quarry Permit are falling in un cultivable waste lands, non-forest .The area is essence consists of stone/rocky ridges and slope/gradient in all directions. The highest elevation is 104 m and lowest elevation is 78m above MSL. Krishnan Scientist – B (JHG) Kerala Region Thiruvananthapuram December,2019 AQUIFER MAPPING AND MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR HARD ROCK TERRAINS, ERNAKULAM DISTRICT, KERALA (AAP- 2018-19) FOREWARD The National Project on Aquifer Mapping (NAQUIM) is an initiative of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, for mapping and managing the entire aquifer systems in the country. The aquifer systems in Kerala are being mapped as part of this Programme and this report pertains to aquifer mapping of the hard rock terrains of Ernakulam district. The target scale of investigation is 1:50,000 and envisages detailed study of the aquifer systems up to 200 m depth, to ascertain their resource, water quality, sustainability, and finally evolve an aquifer management plan. The report titled “Aquifer Mapping and Management plan for hard rock terrains, Ernakulam district, Kerala” gives a complete and detailed scientific account of the various aspects of the hard rock aquifers in the area including its vertical and horizontal dimensions, flow directions, quantum and quality of the resources, of both - the shallow and deeper zones of the hard rock aquifers.

College of Engineering, Kothamangalam, Kerala Abstract : The water quality index (WQI) is a single number that expresses the quality of water by integrating the water quality variables. This paper deals with the assessment of ground water quality in and around Kothamangalam Taluk, Kerala state of India. For calculating the WQI the following 12 physic-chemical parameters such as pH, Electric Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Alkalinity, Chlorides, Total Hardness, Dissolved Oxygen, Fluoride, Calcium, Magnesium, Sulphate and Nitrate have been considered. WQI obtained ranges from 26 to 9199.977. High value of WQI is mainly due to higher concentrations of iron which makes the water unsuitable for drinking.
