The role has the following main functions: to manage the recruitment of Members and Associates, maintain a performance monitoring system and contact database, and effectively engage Associates and Members in RedR’s work.

REDR AND THE WORK WE DO

Every year, hundreds of millions of people around the are affected by natural disasters and conflict. RedR is an international disaster relief charity which saves lives by giving aid workers the vital skills they need to do their jobs to the highest possible standard. We train thousands of people each year in everything from providing emergency shelter to staying safe in the field, from project management after emergencies to essential water and sanitation skills and more. In addition, we supply skilled professionals to humanitarian programmes. Our work helps to ensure that the right people with the right skills are responding to global emergencies, and enables both local and international relief workers to react to the needs of those affected by disaster, efficiently and safely. RedR has hubs in the UK, , and Jordan, and works in over 40 countries each year.

RedR Members are carefully selected professionals who can offer a contribution to the humanitarian sector as well as being committed to support the organisation itself. A portion of the Members are available for deployment, and RedR UK maintains active relationships with INGOs and RedR to support provide skilled personnel in emergency settings. As RedR is a membership organisation, Members are a central part of our work and are involved in a range of ways including electing trustees and promoting RedR.

RedR Associates are humanitarian learning & development experts selected and contracted by RedR to implement our capacity building activities. This pool of over 200 Associates includes as trainers, coaches, mentors and other types of consultants such as organisational development advisors. All Associates go through a rigorous assessment process, based on the Humanitarian Training Competency Framework. Our Associates are important representatives of RedR, as they engage directly with the organisations and workers we support.

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

You will be responsible for the recruitment and management of RedR UK’s Members and Associates. You will ensure that Associate and Member recruitment is conducted efficiently and effectively. You provide processes and tools and monitor the consistency of the assessment and performance management of Associates across RedR hubs (UK, Jordan, Kenya, Sudan).

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee Member and Associate recruitment

• Manage and oversee the Member and Associate recruitment processes, including trainers, coaches, mentors, efacilitators and applicants to the deployment roster. • Coordinate with the Senior Learning and Development Coordinator and programmes staff in the various locations to organise the assessment process. • Contribute to shortlisting and interviewing • Ensure the quality and efficiency of the Member and Associates recruitment processes, including periodic review of recruitment criteria & processes

Manage the Members and Associates database

• Coordinate Associate- and Member-led updating of competency and personal information on the database (Salesforce) and oversee that profiles are regularly updated, accurate and complete. • Coordinate with IT support on any database (Salesforce) support needs related to Member and Associate contact management and performance monitoring.

Member & Associate engagement

• Oversee engagement with Members & Associates including day-to-day communications, newsletters, RedR Website, online portals/networks and social media accounts. • Plan and oversee the organising of regular Member Speaker events. • Coordinate the voting process by Members to elect RedR Trustees at the Annual General Meeting in collaboration with the Company Secretary. • Manage the production of video’s of RedR Speaker events for our online RedTalks series, and initiate new ways of online engagement (e.g. webinars). • Facilitate the set up and ongoing running of events for Members and Associates in the locations where RedR has hubs • Bring Members and Associates closer together and facilitate cross-sharing of opportunities and information.

Promote and represent RedR Members and Associates

• Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies to promote Membership and the deployment roster in particular. • Develop and maintain a close partnership with RedR Australia and other RedR’s regarding Membership services and particularly in the delivery of deployment services.

Lead on initiatives related to the Member and Associate pool

• Manage the RedR Affiliate scheme, which is a mentoring-based programme for junior humanitarian professionals looking to enter or grow within the humanitarian sector. • Expand and develop the deployment roster within the Member pool, and develop and adapt the tools and processes to manage this. • Liaise with external service providers to facilitate RedR’s deployment operations. • Liaise with the Fundraising team on fundraising focussed communications and events that involve Members or Affiliates.

Line Management and contribution to the Quality and Effectiveness Unit:

• Liaise with HR Coordinator to ensure that RedR recruitment and management of Associates and Members is in line with RedRs human resource practices and processes • Manage Associates and Membership Administrator and any Volunteers/Interns • Lead on the development of Membership services to continually improve their relevance and value in line with broader trends in the sector and with RedR’s strategy. • Contribute to the Quality and Effectiveness operational plan and organisational strategy. • Monitor effectiveness of the RedR Member and Associate schemes through monthly reporting, quarterly reviews and conducting annual Member surveys. • Other tasks of the Quality & Effectiveness Unit if required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

▪ Degree level qualification or equivalent, preferably in a relevant subject such as international development, or a similar humanitarian/development related field ▪ Substantial experience in running a recruitment process and knowledge of HR best practice in this regard ▪ Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with external agencies and negotiate partner agreements ▪ Ability to coordinate across teams and motivate colleagues to work together on a common objective ▪ Experience in organising events, highly efficient and detail oriented ▪ Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as representation skills ▪ Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels and from all backgrounds ▪ Ability to work independently with limited supervision ▪ Initiative, enthusiasm and a problem-solving approach to new challenges ▪ Experience in working with database software, such as Salesforce. ▪ Good MS Office Skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel ▪ A commitment to the humanitarian mission and values of RedR UK
