Libraries Week Newsletter.Pdf Libraries Week is an annual celebration of all the wonderful services that libraries have to offer. This year we are celebrating reading and highlighting our libraries at home and our e-Book and e-Audio book service BorrowBox. We are using this week to reach out to people who may not know about the services we currently offer. RVS volunteers will bring a selection of items to your home based on your interests, usually every four weeks. You can request particular genres, authors and titles, free of charge. Safety measures have been put in place for your wellbeing. You can access eBooks and eAudio books for free via North Tyneside’s BorrowBox service, choosing from a fun selection of books that can be downloaded to a personal device to read or listen to. The area was first surveyed at a scale of six inches to one mile by H H Howell and W To~ley. Themaps were published in the old 'county' series during the years 1867 to 1871. During the first quarter of this century parts of the area were revised but no maps were published. In the early nineteen twenties part of the southern area was revised by rcJ Anderson and published in 1927 on the six-inch 'County' edition of Durham 6 NE. In the mid nineteen thirties G Burnett revised a small part of the north of the area and this revision was published in 1953 on Northumberland New 'County' six-inch maps 85 SW and 85 SE.

Maps and plans can be consulted to show the development over time of individual properties, streets, villages and towns, to find out about buildings and places that no longer exist, and to help understand administrative systems such as parishes or boroughs. This User Guide summarises the different types of maps and plans held, the areas and dates covered. For maps and plans relating to coalfields and individual collieries, please see User Guides 19a and 19b Coal Industry. For maps relating to wartime, please see User Guide 20 World War I and User Guide 10 World War II. For maps relating to the Rivers Tyne & Wear, see User Guide 6 Maritime Trade and Navigation. It is normally possible to arrange for copies to be made, but this depends on the physical condition of the original map.
