2020 LSU State Horse Show Ranch Division Rules
Ranch Division ATTIRE: Clothing must be clean and neat. Exhibitors shall wear a western hat and cowboy boots. A western style boot with a minimum of 1-inch heel can be used. A minimum of a short-sleeved shirt is required. The shirt must button or snap down the entire length of the shirt. Equitation shirts are not acceptable. Pullovers are not acceptable as a substitute for the shirt. Spurs and chaps may be worn at the option of the rider. TACK: Horses shall be shown with a stock saddle. Silver equipment will not count over a good working outfit. Legal bits are defined as: 1. 8-1/2 inch maximum length shank. Shanks may be fixed or loose; 2. With regard to mouthpieces, bars must be round, oval, or egg shaped, smooth and unwrapped metal of 5/16 to 3/4 inch in diameter, measured 1 inch from the cheek.They may be inlaid, but must be smooth or latex wrapped. Nothing may protrude below the mouthpiece (bar), such as extensions or prongs on solid mouthpieces. The mouthpiece may be two or three pieces. A three piece, connecting ring of 1-1/4 inches or less in diameter, or a connecting flat bar of 3/8 to 3/4 inches(measured top to bottom with a maximum length of 2 inches),which lies flat in the horse’s mouth is acceptable. 3. Horses six years of age and older must be ridden one handed with a shank bit. 4. The port must be no higher than 3-1/2 inches maximum, with rollers and covers acceptable.

The analysis presented in this report is based on estimates, assumptions and other information developed from industry research, input provided by the project representatives and stakeholders, surveys of potential facility users and analysis of competitive/regional facilities and communities. The sources of information, the methods employed and the basis of significant estimates and assumptions are stated in this report. Although we believe that the information and assumptions set forth in this report constitute a reasonable basis for the estimates of usage and potential financial results, the achievement of any estimate may be affected by fluctuating economic conditions and the occurrence of other future events that cannot be anticipated. Therefore, the actual results achieved will vary from the estimates and such variations may be material. This report is to be used for facility planning of the CCEC Equestrian Facilities only. It is not to be used for any other purpose. We expect the members to see what is equitable, and fair, abide by their conscience and follow these basic rules set forth in this rulebook. © 2020 Australian Ranch Horse – Updated 1st November 2020 2 What you need before you can show Competition Card: For members competing in any sanctioned ARH events Eligibility: Check with ARH for Class eligibility of competitors and horses. Eligibility levels are Open, Youth, Amateur Freshman, Amateurs and Novice Amateur exhibitors must be current members and hold their division card. Horse Owner Card: If the horse is owned by a person/company/partnership other than the competitor, the owner must be a financial member of Australian Ranch Horse. Certificate of Registration for Horses: All horses entered in ARH approved shows are required to be registered with ARH at the time of entering classes.

RANCH TRAIL SHW305.7 Junior horses competing in western pleasure, western horsemanship, western riding, trail, reining, working cow horse, boxing, ranch riding, ranch trail, trail, all versatility ranch horse and all ranching heritage challenge classes that are shown with a hackamore or snaffle bit may be ridden with one or two hands on the reins. The tails of the reins must be crossed on the opposite side of the neck when riding with two hands on split reins except in reining , working cow horse, boxing, ranch riding, ranch trail, all VRH classes, and all RHC classes. Closed reins (example mecate) may not be used with a snaffle bit, except in working cow horse, boxing, ranch riding, ranch trail, all VRH classes and, all RHC classes, where a mecate is permitted. When using a snaffle bit in working cow horse, boxing, ranch riding, ranch trail, all VRH classes and all RHC classes, a leather or other woven material chin strap of any width is to be used and should be attached to the bit below the reins. No iron, chain, or other material is allowed. The chin strap can include metal buckles and/or keepers. SHW306.4 Protective boots, leg wraps and bandages are allowed in reining, working cow horse, boxing, team penning, ranch sorting, barrel racing, pole bending, stake racing, jumping, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, dally team roping-heading, dally team roping-heeling, cutting, western horsemanship, ranch riding, ranch trail, versatility ranch horse classes and ranching heritage classes. The use of slip on (easycare) horse boots or related footwear are not considered as protective boots and are permissible to be worn in all classes.

This rule book includes the guidelines that are followed at our State 4-H Horse Show as well as the rules and entry forms for additional contests held at this show -- Public Speaking, Demonstration, Essay, Photo and Art. You do not have to own a horse to participate in the additional contests. The State 4-H Horse Show is scheduled for June 11-15, 2019 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter in Perry, GA. This show is the official State Qualifying Show for the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Show. There are three basic requirements to be eligible to participate in this show. 1. Be enrolled in Georgia 4-H as a member. 2. Own or lease the horse shown by March 1, 2019 and be able to show proof. Intent to Show and Proof of Ownership or Lease registered online by March 15, 2019. 3. Cloverleaf and Junior participants must have completed at least half of the Novice Horseman Project and Seniors all of the Novice Horseman. This must be completed by time of entry (verified by the County Extension Office) by May 8, 2019.

Mission Statement Oregon High School Equestrian Teams (OHSET) shall be a “not for profit” corporation dedicated to promoting and organizing equestrian competition in high school athletic or activity programs. Oregon High School Equestrian Teams (OHSET) has as its main goal, recognition in the high schools of the equestrian athlete and to give them an opportunity to achieve that recognition in a fair, positive and educational format. The goals are to encourage team play, peer acceptance and good horsemanship. Competition is to follow sportsmanship guidelines as set down by Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA), State School Board, individual participating school activity guidelines, and equine sportsmanship guidelines. Any high school in the United States of America is eligible to form a team and join the OHSET organization. The state is divided into districts. District competitions will be held with the goal of qualifying for a final State Championship Meet to be held by the state for that current year. Each high school will have adult and youth representation on their District Board of Directors. Each district will have adult and youth representatives on the State Board of Directors. Competition is a winter/spring sport scheduled as much as possible not to conflict with other organized high school sports. The purpose is to promote continuous growth in programs fostering horsemanship education, sponsor activities to encourage interscholastic participation and to have cooperative adult supervised leadership for all students in grades 8 through 12. High School Equestrian Teams support, challenge, and offer recognition to the dedicated teens that physically and mentally pursue the challenge of the sport of equine competition.

Judges, Judge candidates and auditors are welcome to attend and learn. Please fill out the enclosed registration form to sign up. The clinician this year is Nicole Carswell -Tolle who has been a professional in the Tennesse Walking Horse industry for 25 years. She currently resides in Fountain, Colorado. Nicole has held many positions within the Tennessee Walking Horse world. She provided instruction during judge education courses for NHSC and SHOW. She created the original Equitation Certification Judges Test; she has judged several of the industry’s top shows including the National Fun Show and the WHOA International Colt and Pleasure Horse Show. Nicole’s passion is teaching the art of riding instruction and how rider effectiveness applies to horse training. She is a strong advocate for youth as they are the foundation of tomorrow.

We are happy to report that it will again be in Custer, Wi at the Heartland Stables. The clinician will be at Best Western in Plover with a live demonstration at Heartland Stables.
