Since 1967 the Arizona Thoroughbred Breeders Association has had an influence on almost all aspect of racing laws and regulations which has benefitted all horsemen running in the State of Arizona. The goal of the Arizona Thoroughbred Breeders Association is to serve its membership and to grow into a strong viable organization with the ability to purchase land and build our own sales pavilion. Fifteen directors serving for three years each on a rotating basis, govern the policy of the Association. The directors also assume duties during the year such as attending Arizona Racing Commission meetings and attend legislative matters pertaining to our industry. The main source of income for the A.T.B.A. is our annual fall Thoroughbred mixed sale. Consignments come from all over the western part of the United States. All yearlings that are consigned and pass through the sale ring become eligible for the A.T.B.A. Spring & Fall Sales Stakes which are run the following May and October as 2 years old with an estimated purse of $75,000. The pretty filly is conditioned by trainer Dan McFarlane and owned 2 year-old rallied to win by Sawyer Cattle Company. This two-year old filly trained well at the fillies division of the 2017 ATBA Fall Sales Stakes Futurity Canterbury Park preparing for this futurity. During her juvenile racing season she won her 2017 Sales Stakes trial and came back Foggia is owned by to win the ATBA Fall Sales Stakes.The Fillies division purse was Sawyer Cattle Company and trained by Dan L. McFarlane $93,853. The winner’s share was $54,358.00 and the final time of the 6 furlongs race was 1:09.62. Foggia was purchased from the Breeders: 2016 ATBA Sale for $30,000 for the new owners Sawyer Cattle Filippo Santoro company. The breeder of Foggia is Filippo Santoro. This is the second foal out of their mare Yan Yan by Grand Slam. Foggia is sired by Rocky Bar. Congratulations to the winning connections! He’s home stretch was giving the racing WITH JOCKEY RY EIKLEBERRY fans an exciting finish. Fortified Effort drew clear by 4 lengths nearing the wire and won the 2017 ATBA Fall Sales Stakes Futurity 2 year-old Colt battled in (Colts & Geldings Division). The colts & geldings division purse was the homestretch to win the Colts & $91,837. The winner’s share was $54,632.00 and the final time of Geldings Division of the 2017 ATBA the 6 furlongs race was 1:10.52. Fortified Effort was purchased Fall Sales Stakes Futurity. from the 2016 ATBA Sale for $35,000 and began his juvenile racing career in Arizona in a trial,summering in Prairie Meadows and Fortified Effort is owned by Kevin Eikleberry, William Arapahoe Park, returning to Arizona for the futurity.
