Wayne Atcheson Billy Graham Library, Charlotte, NC Wayne Wayne Atcheson Billy Graham Library, Charlotte, NC Wayne Atcheson became the first Billy Graham Library Director in Charlotte on June 1, 2006. Today he serves as the Library Historian for Billy Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He also serves in donor ministry and as host to special guests to the Library. He has given over 950 tours. The 2013 edition of Religious Travel lists the Billy Graham Library No. 1 in the Top Ten of religious attractions in America, TripAdvisor.com lists the Library No. 1 in things to do and see in Charlotte. For four years prior to joining the Billy Graham Library, Wayne served as Admissions Manager of the Jerry B. Jenkins Christian Writers Guild in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jerry was co-writer of the blockbuster Left Behind series and the Guild’s purpose was to raise up a new harvest of Christian writers around the world. From 1983-2003 Wayne served as Sports Information Director for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, and Associate Director of TIDE PRIDE, the football donor program. Through the years, he was part of three Alabama national championships in football. He also served as advisor to the Alabama Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter for 18 years putting together 550 weekly programs. He was secretary of the Paul Bryant Museum committee for five years before it opened in 1988. Wayne spent 28 years in college football beginning with Coach Bobby Bowden at Samford University and Coach Paul Bryant at Alabama. He has the distinction of working with three distinguished Americans in Bobby Bowden, Paul Bryant and Billy Graham. For 12 years (1967-79). Wayne was on the national staff of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He served as Associate Director of the national FCA in Kansas City and later as Regional Director of six states from Indianapolis. He worked with notable men in athletics such as Tom Landry, John Wooden, Roger Staubach, Tom Osborne, Archie Griffin, Dean Smith, Paul Dietzel and many others. In 1999 he served as Chairman of the West Alabama Franklin Graham Festival in Tuscaloosa, AL. He is the author of seven books which includes Our Family Was A Team, Christian biographies with Alabama quarterback Jay Barker entitled In Due Time, Faith of the Crimson Tide and two Fellowship of Christian Athletes history books. In 1994, he wrote Impact For Christ, the 40-year history of FCA and in September. 2014 he published Fifty Years of Crimson Tide Faith, 50-year history of the Alabama chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Altogether, he has spent 33 active years with FCA. He has been a lay speaker since his college days and has taught Bible Prophecy and Revival History in the past 20 years. He and his wife Barbara, a Kansas native, have been married 44 years. They have two daughters. Elizabeth and her husband Jared Poplin live in Charlotte, NC and have two sons, Jack, 11, and Luke, 8. Amy lives in Charlotte also and has two sons, Cam, 8, and Christian, 5. Wayne is a graduate of Samford University (Birmingham) and received his master’s degree from the University of Alabama. His degrees were in journalism. In 2012, Samford inducted Wayne into their Journalism-Mass Communications Wall of Fame, its fourth class. After graduate school he served in the United States Air Force National Guard for six years as assistant chaplain. Wayne is the son of Rev. Hymon and Lora Deen Chambers Atcheson and was born in Maplesville, Alabama. His father was a street preacher, tent revivalist, radio preacher and small town country bi-vocational pastor for 63 years. .

Peter Lynas, UK Director of the Evangelical Alliance, said they have members who support and have concerns about the tour, but “. venues, often owned by local people and run by their councils, are challenging freedom of speech and freedom of religion. We should all share concerns about that.” In 2018, there were protests over his visit to “The Festival of Hope” in Blackpool, Lancashire. The festival was organised by 200 churches from many denominations, including the Church of England, but 8,000 local people signed a petition against the visit. The Muslim Council of Britain called on the government to refuse Graham a visa on the grounds that comments he has made amount to Islamophobia and homophobia.

Starting from The Fellowship Foundation founded in the USA in the 1930s and looking at similar and interconnected developments in various countries from South America, Africa, and Europe, the article explores theological foundations of today's world- wide ascend of fascism. Using the example of Anders Behring Breivik’sfamous terrorist attack in Norway, it explores theoretical background for Alt-Right attacks on political correctness and ‘cultural Marxism’. Looking into the 'end of the world' theology and its morality, the article explains deep relationships between Christian fundamentalist prosperity theology and Israel. The article connects Christianity’s forward-looking, linear view of history with ‘end of the world’ theology and capitalism. It explores the postdigital and post-truth nature of evangelical Christians’ public communications and links them to various anti- intellectualist tendencies such as the anti-vaccination movement. Using insights from Marxism, critical pedagogy, and liberation theology, the article demystifies Christian fundamentalist theology and points towards opportunites for resistance. Using both existing and original research, this thesis attempts to create awareness for the historical context behind white evangelical support for Donald Trump. Topics covered include the relationships between high-profile evangelicals and presidents such as Nixon and Reagan, as well as the role of televangelists in the 2016 election.     Billy Graham William Franklin Graham Jr. (November 7, 1918 – February 21, 2018) was an American evangelist, a prominent evangelical Christian figure, and an The Reverend ordained Southern Baptist minister who became well-known internationally in the late 1940s. One of his biographers has placed him "among the most Billy Graham influential Christian leaders" of the 20th century.[2] As a preacher, he held large indoor and outdoor rallies with sermons that were broadcast on radio and television; some were still being re-broadcast into the 21st century.[3] In his six decades on television, Graham hosted annual "Crusades", evangelistic campaigns that ran from 1947 until his retirement in 2005. He also hosted the radio show Hour of Decision from 1950 to 1954. He repudiated racial segregation[4] and insisted on racial integration for his revivals and crusades, starting in 1953; he also invited Martin Luther King Jr. to preach jointly at a revival in New York City in 1957. In addition to his religious aims, he helped shape the worldview of a huge number of people who came from different backgrounds, leading them to find a relationship between the Bible and contemporary secular viewpoints. According to his website, Graham preached to live audiences of 210 million people in more than 185 countries and territories through various meetings, including BMS World Mission and Global Mission.[5] Graham was a spiritual adviser to U.S. presidents, and he provided spiritual Graham in 1966 counsel for every president from Harry S. Billy Graham, American Evangelicals and Sino-American Relations, which based on my research here. Christianity is a very special issue in the past and present Sino-U.S. relations. Entering China with the help of unequal treaties, Christianity played a very important role in China's modernization and social transformation. Missionaries help the establishment of modern schools, hospitals, publishing houses, newspapers and social welfare institutes. Sun Yat-sen, The first president of the Republic of China who inaugurated in 1912, was baptized by an American missionary when he was young. I think few American know that he was also an American citizen during his lifetime. And very interesting thing is he and President Obama graduated from the same middle school in Hawaii. He was a part-time missionary before he became a professional revolutionary. Chiang Kai-shek, who had ruled China from 1927 to 1949 also a Christian. He married Song Meiling, the youngest daughter of a first generation Chinese Methodist missionary in 1927 and was baptized in Shanghai in 1930. Madame Chiang spent her younger years in America and built up extensive contacts with American Christian leaders and laypersons. To some extent, Madame Chiang's image as a pious Christian gained trust and support from American Christians for her husband's government. Part I.     THE BLESSINGS OF BUSINESS: CORPORATE AMERICA AND CONSERVATIVE EVANGELICALISM IN THE SUNBELT AGE, 1945-2000 by DARREN ELLIOTT GREM (Under the Direction of James C. Cobb) ABSTRACT Scholars and pundits have often cast postwar conservative evangelicalism as a kind of doppelganger of liberal activism, as a grassroots expression of populist will against the social revolutions of the 1960s. In contrast, this dissertation argues that the rise of culturally and politically-engaged, conservative evangelicals first began in the midst of the New Deal state in the 1940s and 1950s and depended heavily on another will—the will of corporations and corporate actors, especially those working out of the economic and social context of an emergent, postwar “Sunbelt.” There, in the midst of a burgeoning regional economy that stretched from Georgia to Texas to California, a postwar generation of business leaders worked with evangelical leaders to resurrect the cause of religious, economic, and political conservatism in the midst of the early Cold War. In the 1960s and 1970s, as the Culture Wars heated up, they brought their faith, free market policies, and “family values” to the forefront of American public life. The blessings of business were everywhere—in the ministries of celebrity evangelists like Billy Graham and lay evangelists like R.G. LeTourneau; in corporate-funded missionary groups like Young Life, Campus Crusade for Christ, The Navigators, and Wycliffe Bible Translators; in independent evangelical colleges strung throughout the South and West; in everyday operations at thousands of small businesses and dozens of mass-market corporations; in evangelical-inspired “biblical success” books and in a cottage industry of evangelical-led entrepreneurial seminars; in evangelical culture industries and megachurches; and, most especially, in the careers of evangelical political leaders from Jerry Falwell to George W.
