CHAIRMAN UNVEILS VEDANTA CARES GREEN COVER INITIATIVE ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

In an expression of gratitude to Mother Earth, Vedanta has launched a mega plantation initiative to commemorate World Environment Day. Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal inaugurated the Vedanta Cares Green Cover initiative on Saturday under which more than a million saplings will be planted across business locations.

The company’s employees and business partners will be able to register on its microsite – the Vedanta Cares Plantation portal – to plant a sapling to celebrate their dear ones who have recovered from Covid-19.

The Vedanta Green Cares initiative is an expression of gratitude for the countless gifts we receive from Mother Earth. This is a movement by members of the Vedanta family to give back to nature. The company had planted around 1.2 lakh trees in the financial year 2020-21.

VEDANTA LAUNCHES FIELD HOSPITALS IN CHITRADURGA, BARMER

The Vedanta Cares Field Hospitals are rolling out in quick succession. Delivering on its commitment to beef up the medical infrastructure and strengthen the country’s fight against Covid-19, Vedanta has launched two state-of-the-art field hospitals in Karnataka and Rajasthan this week.

The Vedanta Cares Field Hospital in Chitradurga was inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday, while Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot launched the speciality Covid hospital in Barmer on Friday. Vedanta has already commissioned two field hospitals at Delhi NCR and Naya Raipur in record time.

Each of the air-conditioned field hospitals will have 100 beds to provide timely medical care to Covid-19 patients. The hospitals have 90 beds with oxygen support, while and 10 beds are provided with ventilator support for critical patients.

RAJASTHAN, KARNATAKA TO HAVE SECOND FIELD HOSPITAL

Rajasthan and Karnataka are high on Vedanta’s priority list as it is working overtime to set up its second field hospital in both the states. While the Vedanta Cares hospital in Hubli is in the final stages of completion, the company is also days away from launching a field hospital in Dariba in Rajasthan.

Vedanta, which has pledged Rs 150 crore in the fight against the pandemic, is setting up 10 ‘field hospitals’ with 1,000 beds for COVID -19 patients across the country. Vedanta Cares, an initiative of the Anil Agarwal Foundation, is setting up 10 Covid Care hospitals with 1,000 critical care beds that are coming up across Delhi- NCR, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu.

VEDANTA: PROVIDING COVID RELIEF ON A WAR FOOTING

SECOND MADE-IN-INDIA COVID-19 VACCINE

The Centre has placed an order with Hyderabad-based drugmaker Biological-E for 30 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses. The Union Health Ministry will make an advance payment of Rs 1,500 crore to the manufacturer for what will be the second made-in-India vaccine following Bharat Biotech's Covaxin.

The vaccine doses for which arrangements have been “finalised”, will be “manufactured and stockpiled by Biological E from August-December 2021,” the Union Health Ministry said in a statement.

RBI ASSURES LIQUIDITY FOR ECONOMY, FOCUS ON GROWTH REVIVAL

The Monetary Policy Committee of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday maintained status quo on interest rates for the sixth consecutive review meeting, indicating that reviving economic growth was top on its agenda as it decided to look through inflation pressure which are resurfacing in the economy due to a variety of factors including hardening of crude oil prices.

“The MPC also decided unanimously to continue with the accommodative stance as long as necessary to revive and sustain growth on a durable basis and continue to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the economy, while ensuring that inflation remains within the target going forward,” RBI governor Shaktikanta Das has said while announcing the policy review decision. The central bank revised the growth projection downward to 9.5% from 10.5% for the current financial year.

The Reserve Bank has nudged banks to lend to contact-intensive sectors such as hotels, restaurants, tourism and other services by opening a Rs 15,000 crore liquidity window for the lenders. It provided another Rs 16,000 crore to SIDBI to meet the short and medium-term credit requirements of the MSME sector.

Reliance Industries Ltd believes that the restructuring of its oil-to-chemical business will facilitate value creation and attract a dedicated pool of investor capital in the company, the conglomerate’s annual report for 2020-21 showed. “O2C’s goal is to maximise crude to chemicals conversion and create a sustainable growth business. The scheme received an overwhelming support from our shareholders and creditors,” the company said. (Economic Times)

Rio Tinto has made its first Aboriginal board appointment, hiring former Western Australian state treasurer Ben Wyatt as it strives to rebuild its reputation following last year's destruction of the Juukan Gorge rockshelters. Wyatt, 47, retired from state parliament in March after a 15-year career that included time as Aboriginal affairs minister, where he helped reshape legislation to protect Aboriginal cultural heritage. Chevron Corp would consider selling its 20% stake in a Canadian oil sands mine as its faces investor pressure to do more to curb emissions and fight climate change. The oil producer’s stake in Canadian Natural Resources Ltd’s Athabasca oil sands project generates “pretty good cash flow” without needing much capital “but I wouldn’t deem it a strategic position,” Chief Executive Officer Michael Wirth said at Bernstein’s 37th Annual Strategic Decisions Conference. Saudi Aramco is preparing to return to global capital markets with a bond that would help fund a $75 billion dividend commitment, according to people with knowledge of the plan. Exxon Mobil has relinquished its 80% interest in Ghana’s Deepwater Cape Three Points offshore block, a spokesman told Reuters on Thursday. “Exxon Mobil is prioritising near-term capital spend on the most advantaged assets with the lowest cost of supply in the portfolio including developments in Guyana, Brazil and the U.S. Permian Basin,” Preba Arkaah, a spokesman for Exxon in Ghana, said in an email. Vaccination program kicks off at Aluminium Business for employees and families

Delivering on its commitment to ensure the health and well-being of its people, Vedanta has launched a mega vaccination drive across its locations to cover all employees, their families and business partners. As part of this, Vedanta Aluminium, has initiated the mass vaccination drive at its Odisha and Chhattisgarh operations targeting 25,000 eligible people, including employees, families and business partners. Within the first few days, more than 2000+ people at Lanjigarh, Jharsuguda and BALCO units got vaccinated.

Vedanta conducts menstrual hygiene awareness sessions in various villages across Lanjigarh

Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh organized an awareness session on menstrual hygiene for the adolescent girls in the community on Menstrual Hygiene Day. Organized in association with the NGO partner Jana Sahajya, various programs were conducted to sensitize adolescent girls on the dos and don’ts of menstrual hygiene. Approximately 90 girls were educated on the topic across 7 villages. The sessions were conducted in adherence to all the protocols confirming COVID preventive measures.

TSPL is playing a crucial role in providing excellent health facilities to the citizens of Mansa by providing medicines and medical equipment to the District Administration. Hindustan Zinc (HZL), a Vedanta Group company has initiated a COVID-19 mega vaccination drive for its employees, business partners and their family members across its locations in Rajasthan at Ajmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand and Udaipur. The company has been standing in complete solidarity with communities, state government and local administration in this fight against COVID-19 through various relief measures. Doswada Zinc Plant provides Medical Equipment’s to District Health Department

The company stands united with the state government, local authorities, hospitals, and our communities in the fight against Covid. Our Doswada Zinc Smelter team handed over the life saving equipment’s to the district General Hospital Tapi to overcome the pandemic together. The initiative, taken by Doswada Zinc Plant HZL, was highly appreciated by the Chief District Medical Officer Tapi and he said that the equipment is essential and will be used to treat critically infected patients of Covid admitted to the District General Hospital, Tapi. The team handed over life-saving equipment such as centralized Oxygen Line, Multiparameter, Suction machine, ECG Machine, and defibrillator to Dr. Naitik Choudhary, Chief District Medical Officer, Tapi, on the recommendation of General Hospital Tapi for the treatment of the corona infection in Tapi district.

Hindustan Zinc Pantnagar’s Fire & Safety Team doused a fire outbreak in the community. The Fire & Safety Team quickly responded to a fire emergency in the community and supported the local administration. Our heroes of HZL were appreciated and applauded by the local authorities for their selfless service, preparedness, and response management to the emergency. Vedanta Cares - #IGotVaccinated

In the true spirit to ‘Vedanta Cares’, Cairn Oil & Gas had kickstarted the COVID-19 vaccination drive on May 29, 2021 at Mangala Processing Terminal (MPT) for Mangala, Bhagyam and Aishwariya (MBA) operations, at Raageshwari Gas Terminal, Barmer Rajasthan, and also at the Gururgram location. It was encouraging to see active participation of employees, our business partners and also families in this vaccination drive. The other site locations will commence the vaccination drive over the next few days. Vaccination is the only safe armour against the COVID-19 virus. A dedicated site-specific vaccine SPOC list had been put-in- place for any assistance to employees and business partners.

Expansion of CSR Intervention in New Village – OALP Assam

With the success of the initial intervention in areas of Livelihood intervention and Community connect across 25 villages of Jhorat district in Assam, a joint visit of the team (CSR, HSE, Land and operations) was done in Hazarigaon village of Golaghat District, Assam. The aim of the visit was to carry out a village mapping with key focus on identification of the livelihood opportunities and the need of the community. These mapping exercises plays a pivotal role in customizing the CSR activities for the region. In addition, regular feedback sessions are undertaken with stakeholders to assess the communities perception of the organization as well as acceptability of the CSR interventions. This month, stakeholder connect was done with key villagers, sarpanch, AWW and health workers of Kheroni village.

COVID Intervention

- A flag off ceremony to commence COVID awareness interventions was organised on 24th May’21 at Juna Wadiya village of Amod Block, Bharuch district, Amod, CAMBAY OALP Block, in presence of village sarpanch, PRI members and CSR team. Various engagement activities (miking, SHG meetings, leaflet distribution and Jan Samvad) have been planned to create mass awareness about the COVID precautions and vaccination awareness. - Over the last four days, across 10 villages, more than 50,000 community members have been impacted through these interventions. - Brigadier B S Shekhwat – President RJ Ops handed over 1000 Nasal Cannula & 75 Oxygen Regulators to District Administration for the District Hospital in presence of DC Lok Bandhu, ADM Om Prakash Vishnoi & MLA Mewa Ram Jai. - 1 truck and 2 campers vehicle continue to help in the transportation of empty Oxygen cylinders for Panchpadra and Barmer to refill on urgent basis. Till date more than 5250 empty oxygen cylinder have been transported for refilling till 30th May’21. - Continuous food supply has been provided to the Covid patients on daily basis in the quarantine centre and District Hospital. Total 146 COVID19 positive patients remain in the both (35 at Girls College, 80 at District Hospital & 31 at Girls Hostel) Covid Care Centre - Barmer. - In partnership with the health department and district hospital Barmer, regular sanitization activities are being carried out in the hospital. - Sanitization of rig and camp site are being conducted as part of the regular/ routine activity at Assam and Ravva locations. - Awareness activities continue in all 25 villages of Assam through miking, leaflet distribution, etc. More than 3400 households have been covered where ~ 1838 leaflets and 1408 face masks have been provided to the community till 30th May’21.

Vedanta reinforces the covid vaccination drive by empowering frontline health workers

Adding to the commitment to reinforce the COVID Vaccination Drive and Empower the Frontline Health Workers, Vedanta donated two laptops, a printer, and a modem to Community Health Centre, Sankhali, and one laptop to Primary Health Center, Betki- Khandola. This will facilitate the health department for vaccination drives and covid related work. Besides, Vedanta is also providing daily logistics support to Betki Public Health Center for shifting of vaccines and manpower.

Mr. Uttam Desai, Health Officer, CHC Sankhali, and Mrs. Brenda, Health Officer, PHC Betki received the laptops and thanked Vedanta for its constant support towards various Covid Relief Works and appreciated its efforts towards helping frontline workers in these crucial times. Hon'ble CM of Karnataka inaugurates Vedanta's covid field hospital at Chitradurga

The virtual inauguration of Vedanta's covid field hospital at Chitradurga was held in the presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri B. S. Yediyurappa, of our Chairman Shri Anil Agarwal, Shri B Sriramulu, Minister Social Welfare & District Minister Chitradurga, Shri Narayana Swamy, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Shri GH Thippareddy, MLA Chitradurga and other Government dignitaries.

From Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore, CEO - Iron and Steel Business, Shri Sauvick Mazumdar, Dy. CEO, Shri Sujal Shah, and Director - Iron Ore Karnataka, Shri Krishna Reddy were also present for the inauguration ceremony.

Shri. BS Yediyurappa and other dignitaries present at the inauguration event appreciated Vedanta’s endeavour to join hands with the Government of Karnataka to counter the second wave of Covid-19. Covid Field Hospital at Chitradurga is a fully – equipped, 100 bedded setup for COVID care with 88 beds with oxygen support and 12 beds with ventilator support for critical patients. This hospital is the first of the 2 Covid Field hospitals committed in Karnataka. Vedanta is also setting up a second Covid Field Hospital at Hubli in Karnataka with 100-beds which is in the final stages of completion.
