The long simmering feud between Mooney and Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford, which was memorialized on the April 2010 cover of The Boardwalk Journal is far from over, as Mooney has already announced plans to sue Langford Criminal Law and the city in an effort to regain his position. Mooney’s terse, one-page letter (Adult & Juvenile) of resignation to Director of Public Safety Christine Peterson stated, “The law- enforcement code of ethics will not permit me to participate in the illegal infusion of State/Federal/Municipal political control into this police agency.” With Mooney’s absence, day to day control of the Police Department is now in the hands of Director Peterson and Ernest Jubilee, DWI/Traffic Offenses a Deputy Chief of Police and ally of Mayor Langford.
