Day 1: Sossusvlei Lodge, Sesriem (Tue, 2 June)

Day Itinerary Arrival at Windhoek International Airport in the morning, where you will be met by your English-speaking guide/driver and transfer to Windhoek. From Windhoek we drive via Rehoboth, Klein Aub and Büllsport to Sesriem gate where we will visit the Sesriem Canyon, after sight- seeing we drive from the Naukluft park to our nights’ accommodation at the Sossusvlei Lodge. No lunch included.

As there is no accommodation at Sossusvlei, visitors to this desert wilderness are likely to end up staying at Sesriem, 65 kilometres away, where camps and lodges serve as a base from which to explore the . Sesriem Canyon, a deep chasm carved through the rocks by water, is a striking natural feature of the area that is best explored on foot. Stony walls rise up sharply on both sides of the canyon, while birds roost in its crags and lizards dart along the ledges. The canyon’s name was coined when early settlers used it as a water source, using six lengths of leather (‘ses riem – six thongs) tied together to lower buckets into the water at the base of canyon.)

Day 2: Sossusvlei Lodge, Sesriem (Wed, 3 June)

Day Itinerary Early morning departure to Sesriem gate and first visit to Dune 45and the to the Sossusvlei where the last 5 km is done with a 4x4 shuttle to the vlei. Experience the spectacular dune landscape of the Namib, boasting the highest dunes in the world. Revere at the foot of the 300m apricot-coloured mass as it towers skyward. The energetic among you may even be tempted to conquer the dune. After sight- seeing we drive from the Namib Naukluft park to our nights’ accommodation at the Sossusvlei Lodge. No lunch included.

Day 3: Hansa Hotel, Swakopmund (Thu, 4 June)

Day Itinerary Proceed via Solitaire, the Gaub Pass and the Kuiseb Canyon through the Namib Naukluft Park to for lunch at the Raft Restaurant. After lunch in the afternoon we proceed to Swakopmund will where we will have a brief city tour of this coastal town. Lunch and Dinner included at Local Restaurant.

Day 6: Mokuti Etosha Lodge, Etosha East (Sun, 7 June)

Day Itinerary Today a full day game drive in the SWA Safari Vehicle through Etosha National Park to Mokuti Lodge. Arrival at the lodge where the rest of the afternoon is at leisure. No lunch Included.

Located in Northwestern Namibia, Etosha East is a protected sanctuary in the eastern part of the world-renowned Etosha National Park, known as one of the most accessible game reserves in Southern Africa. Etosha East boasts vast open plains scattered with semi-arid savannah grasslands dotted with watering holes and secluded bush camps. An impressive 5000-square-kilometre Etosha makes up a large area of the eastern side of the park and can even be seen from space. This remote area teems with abundant wildlife such as lions, elephants, black rhinos and giraffes, as well as a variety of birdlife featuring flamingos, ostriches, eagles, hornbills, and owls.

Day 7: Okonjima Plains Camp, Okonjima Nature Reserve (Mon, 8 June)

Day Itinerary After breakfast, we drive via Tsumeb, and Otjiwarongo to the Okonjima Plains Camp where we will visit the AfriCat Education centre. After the visit we proceed where to Windhoek where a lovely farewell dinner awaits at a local Restaurant later in the evening. No Lunch Included.

Halfway between Windhoek and Etosha lies the well-known Okonjima Nature Reserve. The 22 000 ha Nature Reserve is surrounded by 96 km of fence and was finally completed in 2010. Okonjima is home to AFRICAT, a Carnivore Conservation, which gives the captive carnivores a second chance to be released back into the wild and to take the time it needs, to become a completely independent hunter - in a protected area right in the middle of commercial farmland! Also in the Reserve is a 2000 ha 'safe' zone around Plains Camp, Bush Camp, Bush Suite, the Omboroko Campsite as well as the PAWS Environmental Education Centre.

Due to the Namibian road conditions: the majority of roads are gravel, which varies from coarse gravel to fine sand and dust- results very often in the air conditioning unit failing during the journey. We would like to inform you that the repair of the air conditions en route is impossible due to the fact that there are no specialized workshops available throughout the country and the refilling of the gas takes more than 24 hours. Therefore, SWA Safaris cannot guarantee that the air conditions will remain functional during the trip and cannot be held responsible. Please inform your guests accordingly. Furthermore: Air conditioning is not good for your health. En route frequent stops are made for sightseeing and photography. The significant difference in temperature in- and outside the bus can easily result in colds, bronchitis and temporary circulation problems. Besides this, the noise created by a running air conditioner can be most distracting during game drives. All coaches belonging to SWA Safaris are also equipped with forced air ventilation and sliding windows.
