RESULTS FROM THE 2013 ORANGE BOWL YOUTH FOOTBALL ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY SPORTS AUTHORITY Highlight Show to Air at 4 p.m. on Sun Sports

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (www.orangebowl.org) — The 2013 Orange Bowl Youth Football (Orange Bowl YFA) Championships presented by Sports Authority was held on Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15 at Alfonso Field at FIU Stadium. Twenty four teams from eight leagues and 12 different weight classes competed in the 2013 championships. Highlights will be shown on Inside the Orange Bowl at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 on Sun Sports.

The Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance presented by Sports Authority is now in its 15th season and serves more than 16,000 young football players and cheerleaders in 10 football leagues across South . Since its inception in 1999, the Orange Bowl has invested approximately $5 million in youth sports in South Florida.

Now in its 80th anniversary, the Orange Bowl has been one of South Florida’s leading civic organizations, driving tourism and economic development, while supporting scholarships and community athletic facilities. Inspiring thousands of student athletes every year, the Orange Bowl’s activities help foster youth confidence, celebrate student achievement, engage the community and enhance the South Florida economy.

SATURDAY GAME RECAPS: Suniland Sundevils 33, Helping Hands Bulls 18 5 U, 70 pound The first game of the 2013 Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance Championships presented by Sports Authority saw the Suniland Sundevils take down the Helping Hands Bulls, 33-18, for the 70 pound, five and under title.

Suniland running back Bryce Fitzgerald made it difficult for the Bulls’ defense as he reached the end zone five times and scored all of the for the Sundevils, including three 45-yard carries.

Ronnie Jones Jr. scored all three touchdowns for the Bulls and gave a fearless effort against a tough Suniland defense.

Palm Beach All-Stars 27, Key West All-Stars 0 105 pound In the 105 pound All-Star showdown between Palm Beach and Key West, it was the Key West All-Stars who came away with the shutout victory, 27-0.

Palm Beach started off with Jarvis Clark putting in the end zone for six, followed by a Ja’Kavian Williams 15-yard touchdown run and a Derrieon Craig score. Palm Beach put the icing on the cake when quarterback Azrial Lopez connected with Naivyan Cargill for a touchdown catch to put Palm Beach up 27-0.

Palm Beach All-Stars 32, West Boynton All-Stars 0 120 pound The 120 pound Palm Beach All-Stars of the Palm Beach Community Youth Football League came to play at the OBYFA Championships presented by Sports Authority and shutout the West Boynton All-Stars of the West Boynton Football League. Kalani Adams gave Palm Beach the early momentum by blocking a punt, setting up a touchdown pass to Robert Shepard III. Shepard III then scored on a run from 18 yards out to put Palm Beach up 13-0 and Jevon Hamilton returned an for a touchdown to give Palm Beach a 20-0 by the end of the first quarter.

Armando Maldonado hauled in a 26-yard touchdown catch and Jalen Jones snagged a pick-six to give the Palm Beach All-Stars the 32-0 victory.

Western Communities All-Stars 28, Palm Beach All-Stars 6 140 pound Palm Beach took an early 6-0 lead over Western Communities thanks to a Jermaine Henderson touchdown reception early in the first quarter, but that would turn out to be the only score the WCFL All-Stars’ defense would allow for the rest of the game.

John Smith and Jachobi Neath combined for two Western Communities touchdowns and WCFL took a 15-6 lead into the half. The defense was led by Brian Condon, who recorded three sacks in the first half, including a safety. Kai Rosado had some big catches for WCFL and scored a touchdown to put the game out of reach, 21-6. The game ended on a pick-six and the Western Communities All-Stars defeated Palm Beach 28-6.

Dick Conley All-Stars 13, Palm Beach All-Stars 6 85 pound The 85 pounders from the Dick Conley Memorial Football League and the Palm Beach Community Youth Football League put on a show in the 5 p.m. game on Saturday, December 14.

Palm Beach, for the second game in a row, would score first but ended up surrendering the early lead to its opponent. Aiden Malcolm of Palm Beach put the PBCYFL All-Stars up 7-0 early in the first half with a nice touchdown run, but Dick Conley would answer right back. Antonio Jackson and Jaden Miller combined for two huge touchdowns and Dick Conley would never look back, taking the title 13-6.

Key West All-Stars 12, Palm Beach All-Stars 6 165 pound The nightcap of the first day of the OBYFA Championships presented by Sports Authority saw arguably the most thrilling ending to a football game since Auburn upset Alabama on a 109-yard missed field goal return for the game-winning touchdown.

Palm Beach took the early 6-0 lead in the second quarter on a 20-yard touchdown run by Arnold Augustin. Key West came right back and tied the game at six on a John Greer touchdown run and that would end the scoring until the final play of the game.

With three seconds left on the clock, Palm Beach ran the ball inches away from the goal line but the ball popped out. Donovan Mompoint of Key West caught the ball in the back of the end zone and ran it the length of the football field to give Key West an incredible 12-6 victory.

SUNDAY GAME RECAPS: Miami Gardens Bulldogs 24, Tamiami Colts 0 11 U, 115 pound In the opening game of the Sunday matchups, the Miami Gardens Bulldogs scored early and often en route to a 24-0 victory over the Tamiami Colts. The Bulldogs represented the Florida Youth Football League while the Colts represented the Miami Xtreme Youth Football League.

Quarterback Cedquan Smith, running back Chavon Wright and wide receiver Anthony Johnson Jr. lead the powerful Bulldogs’ offense while James Williams and Willie Floyd held it down for the Miami Gardens defense.

Cedquan Smith punched it in for two one-yard touchdowns in the early-going to give the Bulldogs a 12-0 lead before Chavon Wright broke free for a 50-yard touchdown carry.

Miami Gardens Ravens 32, Helping Hands Bulls 0 10 U, 100 pound The Helping Hands Bulls of the National Youth Football League put up a valiant effort against the Ravens of Miami Gardens, but just could not stop the powerful Ravens offense.

Led by Christopher Sweeting Jr and Katravis Geter Jr., the Ravens offense scored often to help give them the OBYFA 100- pound title. Geter Jr. started the scoring for Miami Gardens on a long touchdown run with just over eight minutes to go in the first quarter. Sweeting Jr. followed with a touchdown of his own and Geter Jr. carried for a 30-yard touchdown to put the Ravens up 26-0 at the half.

Torrie Cox Jr., son of the ex- of the Pittsburgh Panthers and the , ran for a 50-yard touchdown to give the Ravens the 32-0 victory.

West Miramar Patriots 40, Future Youth Bulls 0 12 U, 130 pound The 12U, 130 pound West Miramar Patriots of the Miami Xtreme Youth Football League scored early and often en route to a 40- 0 victory over the Future Youth Bulls of the South Florida National Youth Football League Sunday in an Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance presented by Sports Authority Championship matchup.

Leonard Cohen, Lucas Matias, Jonathan Cotto and Trenod Desrosier scored in the first quarter, Matias added four extra two- point conversions by kick, and the defense added a safety as the Patriots jumped off to a 26-0 first quarter lead.

The Bulls gave a valiant effort despite fielding only 11 players throughout the game. The Championships were held at FIU Stadium in Miami on Saturday and Sunday December 15.

Key Biscayne Key Rats 20, Pahokee Baby Blue Devils 0 8 U, 80 pound The Key Biscayne Key Rats captured the 80 pound, eight and under title at the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance presented by Sports Authority, with a 20-0 victory over the Pahokee Baby Blue Devils at FIU Stadium in Miami on Sunday, December 15.

Three different players scored for the Key Rats, representing the Miami Xtreme Youth Football League, Ignacio Falla, Franco Schena and Michel Musi. Pedro Duran added a 2-point conversion kick. The Baby Blue Devils represented the Glades Tri-City Youth Football League.

West Miramar Patriots 34, Pahokee Baby Blue Devils 0 13 U, 155 pound The West Miramar Patriots defeated the Pahokee Baby Blue Devils 34-0 to win the 155 pound, 13 and under title at the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance presented by Sports Authority Championships at FIU Stadium in Miami on Sunday December 15.

Bran Alvarado Jr. scored twice for the Patriots, once on a long pass from Wayne Ruby and once on a seven yard run. He also added an extra point. Rachad Wildgoose and Rayne Tanega-Doster also scored a touchdown and extra point, while Eric Hoff Jr. scored a touchdown and Anthony Schwartz add an extra point on a pass from Wayna Williams. West Miramar is from the Miami Xtreme Youth Football League and Pahokee from the Glades Tri-City Youth Football League.

Northwest Broward Raiders 34, Belle Glade Baby Raiders 6 14 U, Unlimited The Northwest Broward Raiders defeated the Belle Glade Baby Raiders 34-6 to capture the title at the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance Championships presented by Sports Authority in the 14 and under, unlimited division at FIU Stadium in Miami, Sunday December 15.

Lavontae Decius scored two touchdowns, one on a long run and the other on an interception return. He added a run for an extra point, after his brother Tavontae took the opening kickoff back for a touchdown. Kenneth Macintosh and Norvic Jackson also scored on rushing touchdowns. Glendon Morgan scored for Belle Glade on a 96 yard pass from Jay ‘Qon Hatcher.
