A rare night in St. Mary’s County occurred on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. In Callaway, MD a venue known as 5 South Events Center hosted Platinum Rock band “”. Not too many National Acts come to Southern Maryland; let alone St. Mary’s County. With PNC Waterside Pavilion hosting its Summer Concert Series, Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa, along with St. Leonard’s Bayside Pavilion; it looked to be St. Mary’s time to bring in the big act.

Local band Iz’em(California, MD) got the show started with their mix of rock and experimental genres. Mike Damron; the lead singer; wowed the crowd with his guitar play, vocals, and keyboard skills. For the next 45 minutes, Iz’em rocked out getting the crowd pumped for the headliner.

Jumping on stage next was Lusby, MD based Shallowdeep. Their hard rock originals were the perfect set-up to Trapt performing. After being around; on and off, for the past 10 years, Shallowdeep members Stephen Nelson(Lead Singer), Travers Gillingham(Guitar), and Matt Glass(drums) got the crowd singing and jumping with originals. The hard rock musings of Shallowdeep became the perfect set-up for the evening.

At long last, the headliner was ready to take the stage. A few hundred Southern Maryland fans closed in on the stage. Lead vocalist Chris Brown took the stage and the band opened with their 2002 hit “Still Frame”. With colored lights, and fog spreading throughout the venue; the crowds sang along, and making their way through their set list. “Echo”, “Contagious”, “It’s Over, and “Headstrong” all keep the crowd jumping. Trapt finished the show with “Stand Up”; a song about bullying. Just when the crowd thought it was all over, Trapt played an encore; “Stories” their 2002 song from the self-titled album “Trapt”

As the show ended, several people got to speak with the band, including one fan who received the set list signed. As the night winded down the performing bands took some pictures, and everyone headed to an after-party at Toots Bar in Hollywood. With the success of this show, look for bigger named bands to start performing in St. Mary’s County while they are on tour.
