Founded over 150 years ago in 1866 at the close of the Civil War, initially as a safe residence for war widows, the Association provides comfortable, secure and affordable housing to a diverse community of older adults on New York City’s Upper East Side through two residences:

JAMES LENOX HOUSE Part of the Mitchell-Lama Housing Program, has 99 apartments on East 73rd Street between Madison and Park Avenues. It meets a growing need in New York City for reasonably priced housing with quality supportive services for people age 55 and over.

CARNEGIE EAST HOUSE With 97 apartments on Second Avenue near 95th Street, provides enriched housing with an array of special services for people age 55 and over who need assistance with their activities of daily living. We depend on your support to fulfill our mission of helping older adults. James Lenox House Association Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
