We gave everything we had that year and it took a monumental team effort to dethrone the Islanders,” said Wayne Gretzky. “It is going to be amazing to see everyone again, the first time we’ve all been together since 1984. I can’t wait to be in Edmonton and share stories and many great memories with our fans.” The 1984 Stanley Cup Reunion event at Rexall Place will be a magical evening that will relive the greatest moments from the storied 1983‐84 season. There will be multiple musical acts taking the crowd back to that retrospective time when music, sport and daily life were all woven together. Out of the vault will be never‐before‐seen video and stills that will accompany many of the stories being shared live by various members of the team. Special guests, interactive crowd participation and reliving memories in a multimedia display will round out an unforgettable evening. “The 1984 team was the people’s team, Edmonton’s team, and the whole City played a part in making us champions. It was a historic occasion for the City of Edmonton and the National Hockey League,” said Oilers Entertainment Group Vice‐Chairman Kevin Lowe. “It’s only fitting we invite fans back to where the magic happened to celebrate with an evening of intimate storytelling, entertainment and interaction with the team.” In honour of the ’84 team, who laid the foundation for the dynasty that followed, the Edmonton Oilers will create a legacy in the community. Net proceeds from the 1984 Stanley Cup Reunion will be directed to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation in support of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, specifically for the creation of a new Pediatric Ambulatory Clinic. Pediatric ambulatory care includes over 120,000 visits annually where children see pediatric specialists on an outpatient basis. “As a centre of excellence, the Stollery Children’s Hospital provides expert care to the sickest kids in Canada and the Foundation is committed to ensuring every child, no matter the distance or the circumstance, receives the best possible care,” said Mike House, President and CEO, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We are very proud and fortunate to partner with the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation to create a modern, state‐of‐the‐art pediatric ambulatory clinic space at the Stollery that will serve new generations of Oilers fans for decades to come.” 1983‐84 Edmonton Oilers No. Player Pos Coaches 9 Glenn Anderson RW Glen Sather 7 Paul Coffey D Bruce MacGregor 15 Pat Conacher C John Muckler 6 Rick Chartraw D Ted Green 31 Grant Fuhr G 2 Lee Fogolin D Scouts 21 Randy Gregg D Barry Fraser 99 Wayne Gretzky C Matti Vaisanen 22 Charlie Huddy D Ed Chadwick 12 Dave Hunter LW 16 Pat Hughes RW Trainers 29 Don Jackson D Peter Millar 17 Jari Kurri RW Lyle Kulchisky 20 Dave Lumley RW Barrie Stafford 4 Kevin Lowe D 13 Ken Linseman C PR/Broadcast 19 Willy Lindstrom LW Bill Tuele 28 Larry Melnyk D Rod Philips 35 Andy Moog G 11 Mark Messier C 24 Kevin McClelland C 10 Jaroslav Pouzar LW 27 Dave Semenko LW 25 Raimo Summanen LW 30 Mike Zanier G ‐30‐ For more information, contact: Tim Shipton Edmonton Oilers 780.909.8584 [email protected] .
