"Dazzling opulence: Nicholas Collon led his orchestra with consummate skill" -The Guardian Founder and Principal Conductor, Aurora Orchestra (London, UK) Principal Conductor, Residentie Orchestra (The Hague, Netherlands) Nicholas Collon brings something fresh to all he does: as Co-Principal Conductor of the Holland's Residentie Orchestra, as a regular guest with the CBSO and many of the leading UK and European orchestras, and as the charismatic Principal Conductor of the Aurora Orchestra with their widely-acclaimed Warner Classics recordings and their BBC Proms appearances playing-from-memory stunning performances of the Mozart G Minor, Beethoven Fifth and Sixth Symphonies. He was also recently named Principal Guest Conductor at Gürzenich- Orchester in Cologne, Germany (2017). His skill as a communicator and innovator has been recognized by both critics and audiences alike – he was the recipient of the 2012 Critics’ Circle Award for Exceptional Young Talent – and he is known as an imaginative programmer encompassing an exceptionally wide range of music. In addition to winning the Echo Klassik (Classical without Borders) award for the recording ‘Roadtrip’ featuring music by John Adams, Copland, Ives, and Nico Muhly on Warner Classics, Nicholas Collon has made numerous recordings with England's Aurora Orchestra, Halle Orchestra, London Sinfonietta and Birmingham Contemporary Music Group on Warner Classics and other labels. In demand as a guest conductor, highlights include the Philharmonia, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, BBC Wales, and Hallé Orchestra; orchestras in Zurich, Berlin, Toulouse, Lyon, Bamberg, and Warsaw along with the London Sinfonietta and Ensemble Intercontemporain. He has collaborated with artists such as Ian Bostridge, James Ehnes, Evelyn Glennie, Steven Isserlis, Angelika Kirchschlager, Pekka Kuusisto, and Alisa Weilerstein.
