NEW YEAR, NEW ASU *Games played at • When comparing statistics year-to-year at this time, it’s not hard to see what is contributing to the Sun Devils’ success this season. • At this point, the 2017-18 team was 4-12-4 versus this year’s 14-7-1. • The goal margin comparison is nearly the opposite, ranking dead last with a -33 a season ago while now ranking tied for 10th with a +20 margin. This year, the Sun Devils have averaged 3.23 goals per game versus just 1.95 per game last year -- ranking 14th in the country versus 57th. • The plus-minus is also nearly the same, ranking 59th last year at -25 while sitting tied for 10th at +18. DRAFTED DEVILS • Junior JOEY DACCORD and freshman DEMETRIOS KOUMONTZIS are the two Sun Devils to have been drafted in the NHL. They are the third and fourth players to don the Pitchfork and have been drafted. DACCORD went 199th overall in the 7th round of the 2015 NHL Draft to the , while KOUMONTZIS went 104th overall in the 4th round of 2018 to the Calgary Flames. • DACCORD was drafted prior to wearing the Maroon & Gold, but is officially the first drafted player in Sun Devil Division I history as he was commited to ASU already at the time of being drafted. • Over the past two summers, BRINSON PASICHNUK, TYLER BUSCH, JAKOB STRIDSBERG, JOHNNY WALKER, JACOB WILSON and AUSTIN LEMIEUX all attended NHL Development Camps.
