BRIEFLY Waitangi Day respect in TA Blokes back in the shed Organisers rapt with turnout for three Waitangi events The Te Awamutu Blokes Shed Afternoon is being repeated this weekend, with the John Austin Ltd property in the spotlight this year. The event takes place at the John Austin Ltd property at 348 Te Mawhai Road on Sunday, February 14 from 1.30pm- 3.30pm. There will be around 150 items of machinery on display, including 25 tractors and a number of combine harvesters. Last year’s successful inaugural event, organised by the Bible Society’s Te Awamutu Action Group, raised $1200. Once again funds raised this year will go towards overseas Bible projects. ‘‘People see this sort of machinery travelling along our country roads and this will be a chance to see it up close,’’ says one of the organisers, Rod Bent. There is a $12 admission fee, with free entry for ‘blokes under 12’. Afternoon tea will be provided at 3pm. For more information contact Mr Bent on 871 5852.
