The Power 5 win was the first for Montana since defeating Pittsburgh in November of Dec. 7 - Maizen Fausett, SUU 2017 and the first over a Pac-12 team in a decade. Dec. 14 - Tevian Jones, SUU 3 Three Big Sky teams are currently undefeated in league play with Dec. 21 - Tanner Groves, EWU Sacramento State and Southern Utah sitting at 2-0 and Eastern Washington at 1-0. Dec. 28 - Jan. 4 - 4 Portland State currently ranks fourth in the nation with 16.2 offensive rebounds per game. The Vikings have ranked in the top five nationally in Jan. 11 - the category the last three seasons, topping the country with 15.59 per game at the end of the 2018-19 season. Jan. 18 - Jan. 25 - 23 Weber State senior guard Isiah Brown has led the Big Sky in scoring all season with 21.2 points per game.     2012-2013 CONSTITUTION CONSTITUTION OF THE BIG SKY CONFERENCE PREAMBLE The members of the Big Sky Conference subscribe to the principle that intercollegiate athletics is a vital part of higher education, and is regarded as an integral part of the educational program, and that the intercollegiate athletic experience is equally valuable for both male and female students. Institutions are committed to providing athletic opportunities on an equitable basis without regard to gender. The intercollegiate athletic programs shall be administered and conducted in a manner consistent with the institutions' educational policies. Fundamental to the successful application of any set of rules is the spirit of mutual confidence and cooperation. It is the function of this Conference to encourage intercollegiate athletics on an amateur basis with institutional control. The members of this Conference are dedicated to a continuing effort to maintain intercollegiate athletics in harmony with the essential educational purposes of the institution. To reinforce these principles, the Big Sky Conference believes in and subscribes to the fundamental purposes, policies, and principles governing the conduct of intercollegiate athletics as adopted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). These include the purposes and fundamental policy contained in Article 1 of the NCAA Constitution and the principles for conduct of intercollegiate athletics are found in Article 2. The Idaho State Board of Education unanimously approved an invitation from the Big Sky Conference to the University of Idaho Football program to become a conference member starting with the 2018 football season. All other University of Idaho athletic programs already compete in the Big Sky Conference. The University of Idaho (UI) will end its current membership in the Sun Belt Conference after the 2017 football season. In February 2016, the Sun Belt Commissioner informed UI that the conference had reached a decision to become a 10-team league beginning with the 2018 football season. As part of the Sun Belt Conference decision, the membership of UI and New Mexico State University will expire following the 2017 season. The Sun Belt Conference is a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) Conference, and the Big Sky Conference is a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Conference. “The Board is pleased to accept this invitation from the Big Sky Conference. It makes sense for the University of Idaho” said Don Soltman, President of the Idaho State Board of Education. “All other UI sports are already in the Big Sky. This decision brings conference alignment and consistency to the university’s athletic program,” Soltman continued. The Board also saw an opportunity to renew football rivalries with universities in the Northwest, including Idaho State University, the University of Montana and Eastern Washington University, among others.

As a result, the University is currently unaffiliated with a conference for football scheduling beyond the 2012- 13 football season. Institutions are currently engaged in scheduling football games for the 2013-14 season and beyond, and it is imperative that the University begin doing so as well in order to ensure a full schedule of games. Consequently, the University seeks authority to commence scheduling football games as an unaffiliated, independent Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) institution.

    2014-2015 OPERATING CODE OPERATING CODE OF THE BIG SKY CONFERENCE The Operating Code of the Conference consists of directives as well as commitments of a contractual nature between member institutions, and all procedures and prohibitions of the Conference. ARTICLE I RECOGNIZED SPORTS Section 1. Required Core Sports Each core member institution is required to participate in all of the following core sports: Women: basketball, cross country, golf, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, tennis, volleyball. Men: basketball, cross country, football, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, tennis. To meet the core sport participation requirements, each institution, in the core sports listed above, must participate in the minimum number of regular season competitions (in compliance with NCAA divisional sport scheduling requirements) with the minimum number of participants as specified to meet the NCAA Division I membership requirements. An institution applying for a NCAA waiver of any sport sponsorship-related bylaw must also apply for a waiver from the Big Sky Conference’s Presidents’ Council if a Big Sky Conference core sport is involved. Failure to meet the above requirements without a waiver granted by the Presidents’ Council is a violation that must be reported to the Conference’s Ethical Conduct and Violations Committee. Finally, each institution is required to participate in each core sport championship.     ANNUAL REPORT 2017 MESSAGE from the President Over the past year, the University of Idaho has come together to implement our ambitious, multifaceted Strategic Plan, a roadmap to take us through 2025. We have lofty goals for conducting research and scholarship, for transforming lives through academic and program excellence, for engaging with our communities, and for cultivating the best higher education environment possible for students and employees. The university has traveled a great distance in a short time. Scholarship and research took a leap forward this year. Collaboration and partnership are driving many projects, including at the newly opened Integrated Research and Innovation Center (IRIC), a $52 million home for interdisciplinary research; at Rock Creek Ranch, where a research partnership has already started at the intersection of rangeland, recreation and conservation; and at the proposed Center for Agriculture, Food and the Environment, which received $10 million in funding from the state of Idaho toward its completion. Across endeavors, our $102 million research enterprise delivers meaningful results for the complex problems and critical issues facing our state and our world. We’ve also brought more students into the life-changing experience of a Vandal education. We continue to refine our approaches to reach more Idaho students. We’ve built partnerships to recruit internationally, and we’ve revamped our Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) program for Oregon, Washington and Alaska students. We bolster these commitments with $25 million in annual scholarships – an investment in the lofty aspirations of our students and in the future of Idaho. The possibilities for Vandal education have expanded.
