  • Super Wild Card Weekend Kicks Off Saturday
FOR USE AS DESIRED 1/5/21 SUPER WILD CARD WEEKEND KICKS OFF SATURDAY The NFL’s playoff table is ready. Get ready for a six-course meal. The addition of a third Wild Card team in each conference this season and the subsequent expansion of the playoffs has resulted in a Super Wild Card Weekend of NFL action. For the first time ever, there will be three games on Saturday, January 9, and three games on Sunday, January 10, to be played at 1:05 p.m., 4:40 p.m., and 8:15 p.m. ET on each day. The postseason kicks off Saturday on the heels of the highest-scoring regular season in NFL history, packed with more points (12,692) and touchdowns (1,473) than any of the league’s previous 100 years. All told, 179 of 256 games – 70 percent – were within one score (eight points) in the fourth quarter, more games than all but one season in league annals (184 in 2016). And no lead was safe, as winning teams combined to erase deficits of 10-or-more points in 43 games, tying a single-season league record. Steady, dangerous teams led by consistent veterans, young and on-the-rise clubs guided by sensational newcomers, they all have seats at the table. • Quenton Nelson: the Real Offensive Rookie of the Year
Quenton Nelson: The Real Offensive Rookie of The Year Author : Scott DelleFave While Cleveland Browns Quarterback Baker Mayfield and New York Giants Running Back Saquon Barkley are stealing the show as the new crop of talent in the NFL. However, there is one offensive rookie that is playing already at an elite level; and that man is Guard Quenton Nelson of the Indianapolis Colts. Nelson being picked sixth overall is extremely high for an interior lineman, but it isn't unprecedented in recent memory as Jonathan Cooper and Chance Warmack were guards both taken in the top ten of the 2013 NFL draft. Cooper and Warmack never reached elite status, but are still kicking around the league six years later. The best part about taking Nelson sixth overall is the fact that the Colts were likely to select him with the third overall pick before they traded back with the New York Jets and netted three additional second round picks, two in 2018 (who turned out to be Braden Smith, another guard and Kemoko Turay) and another in 2019. The almighty question you all are thinking is: why on earth should an interior lineman win the Offensive Rookie of the Year? Simply put he isn't supposed to put up any sorts of stats in the ways of yards or 1 / 2 touchdowns he's done his job expertly and his primary jobs are to keep franchise Quarterback Andrew Luck vertical and healthy. Nelson has greatly succeeded as numerous commentators have mentioned we've seen Andrew Luck return to his previous glory.

  • Titans-Colts Supplemental Notes
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NOVEMBER 11, 2020 TITANS-COLTS SUPPLEMENTAL NOTES SIMMONS MAKING PLAYS: Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons earned his first AFC Defensive Player of the Week award after helping to produce a pair of takeaways during last Sunday’s win against the Chicago Bears. In the third quarter, he forced a fumble that resulted in a 63-yard touchdown return by Titans cornerback Desmond King II, and he added a fumble recovery in the fourth quarter. Simmons, who also batted down a pass against the Bears, increased his totals in his second NFL season to two sacks, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. In six of the seven games he has played this season—he missed one contest while on the reserve/COVID-19 list—he has either a sack, a pass defensed, a forced fumble or a fumble recovery. Simmons is one of only three NFL defensive linemen this season with a minimum of two sacks, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The other two members of the group are J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans and Benson Mayowa of the Seattle Seahawks.
