His first major title came with his win at the 2015 Masters Tournament--the event that sparked his emergence into the public eye. During this match, he tied golf champion Tiger Woods’s 72-hole re- cord, and became the second youngest golfer to win the tournament at 21 years old. He then went on to win the 2015 U.S. Open and place 2nd in the PGA Championship the same year. More recent- ly, he claimed a title in the 2017 Open Champion- ship. By tour, he has won 11 PGA tournament titles, [ ] 2 PGA Tour of Australasia wins, and one other event. AWARDS AND RECOGNITION AWARDS AND RECOGNITION His initial outbreak into the PGA Tour called for many different awards early on in his career. In 2013, just after he made his PGA debut, Spieth was crowned “Rookie of the Year” by the PGA. Following his suc- cessful 2015 season, Spieth was named PGA Play- er of the Year, PGA Tour Player of the Year, PGA Tour Leading Money Winner, FedEx Cup Champi- on, Recipient of the Vardon Trophy, and Recipient of the Byron Nelson Award. In 2017, he reclaimed the Vardon Trophy and the Byron Nelson Award. [ ] PERSONAL PERSONAL Spieth is the son of Shawn and Christine Spieth and the older brother of Steven and Ellie. Aside from golf, he enjoys attending a PGA Bible Study and helping special needs children, military families, and youth golf through the Jordan Spieth Foundation.
