Reference No: EDUN N25-02-004 Press Release No: 05604 Date 22 NOVEMBER 2004 Subject: VACANCIES AVAILABLE FOR CENTRAL POSTING TO SCHOOLS THAT PARTICIPATED IN THE DIRECT SCHOOL ADMISSION EXERCISE 2004

The Direct School Admission (DSA) exercise introduced this year for the seven schools offering the (IP) for their Secondary One intake in 2005 has been successfully conducted. The exercise was conducted over two phases – Phase One from 18 Oct 2004 to 22 Oct 2004, and Phase Two from 8 Nov 2004 to 12 Nov 2004.

2. The seven schools were Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), , The Chinese High School (), Nanyang Girls’ High School, the National University of High School of Mathematics & Science, and Raffles Girls School.

3. The vacancies remaining for centralised posting for each of the IP schools are in Table 1 below. Table 1: Available vacancies for centralised posting after DSA

+Independent Schools have the flexibility to retain up to 10% of their remaining Secondary One vacancies after the central posting exercise. Similarly, Autonomous Schools may retain up to 5% of their vacancies.

4. The National University of Singapore High School of Mathematics & Science (NUSHS) will not be participating in the central posting exercise. However, there are still 10 vacancies for the Secondary One intake in 2005 in the school. Students who are interested in applying for admission to NUSHS can do so after the central posting exercise by applying directly to NUSHS between 1 Dec 2004 and 2 Dec 2004. Successful applicants will be notified directly by NUSHS. Applicants must meet NUSHS’s admission criteria of a PSLE T-score of at least 250 and an A* in both Mathematics and Science.
