President Fiscal Year 2013-2014, for The Church Club of New York, marked the third and final year serving as your President. My term on the Board of Trustees also concluded, and I take this occasion to express my profound gratitude for having had the opportunity to work with a dedicated and talented Board, and !to serve you, our Membership. Significant highlights of Fiscal Year 2013-2014 included strengthening professional management by changing Executive Director Barbara Hayward’s position from interim to permanent; innovative and ambitious programming of events at various parishes around New York; and the launching of an important new initiative, the Church Club’s Young Adult of the Year Service Recognition Award. Additionally, the year ended fiscally more secure than in Stanley M. Ackert III the recent past, without incurring an annual deficit for the first time in nine ! consecutive years. The achievements have afforded a period of transition for the Church Club, leaving us a stronger, and more viable, organization for the future. We will need that strength in the coming year as the Church Club will again have to relocate its headquarters and archives due to the pending sale of the !building where our current office is situated at 281 Park Avenue South. I invite you to peruse the following pages of the 2013-2014 Annual Report, which chronicle events enjoyed by our members, friends, and guests during the fiscal year; as well as our 127th Annual Award Dinner, at which The Very Rev. Robert Willis, Dean of Canterbury Cathedral, England, was the guest of honor and The Rt. Rev. Andrew Dietsche, Bishop of New York, accepted an honorarium from the Church Club for the Bishop’s discretionary fund, and offered the Invocation at the Dinner. ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
