Dear Team – As a Tumultuous Week Comes to an End, I Want to First
Dear Team – As a tumultuous week comes to an end, I want to first thank everyone who contributed to our extraordinary coverage, especially those at the Capitol on Wednesday. It is a privilege to work with you as we document history. As we prepare for a new President to be sworn in, I want to share a few pieces of our coverage plans related to the new Administration. First, Andrea Mitchell will add another ‘chief’ to her name, taking on the title of Chief Washington Correspondent in addition to her long-time role covering all things international as our Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent. I’m excited to announce that Hallie Jackson will be following up her incredible run at the White House by stepping into a new role as Senior Washington Correspondent, covering big political stories and more for all of our platforms. She’ll continue to anchor her 10 a.m. hour on MSNBC, and will also launch a show for NBC News Now and Peacock, which we’ll have more to say about in the coming weeks. Kristen Welker and Peter Alexander will be our new Chief White House Correspondents, leading our coverage of the incoming Biden Administration. As if co-anchoring Weekend TODAY together wasn’t enough, this duo’s tenacious reporting has been at the heart of our political coverage for the last two administrations and the White House unit could not be in better hands. Geoff Bennett and Kelly O’Donnell will continue to serve as White House Correspondents and Monica Alba will join the team as well. -
2012 NABJ Diversity Census an Examination of Television Newsroom Management
2012 2012 NABJ Diversity Census An examination of Television Newsroom Management By Bob Butler National Association of Black Journalists PREFACE Five years ago, in the absence of any information, NABJ set out to research and report the true state of newsroom management diversity. The result was the Television Newsroom Management Diversity Census. Many have now come to depend on this important document to determine the true health and viability of diversity within today’s newsrooms. The report is not only for the public and those who work in the industry, but also corporations and employers who are charged with assessing the realities of these circumstances. The 2012 Television Newsroom Management Diversity Census is comprised of two reports. The first report studies the diversity of news managers at 295 stations owned by different 19 companies. There are more than 700 such stations nationwide and it is our intent to eventually document every television newsroom in the country. The second report examines the diversity of newsroom managers and executives at broadcast and cable news networks. Unlike the local station, which broadcast to their respective markets, the networks provide news to the entire country. You may notice that ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC are mentioned in both reports. These networks own 51 stations that were included in the stations report. The information within the local station report is not included nor factored into the national news networks report. The demographic data retrieved is inspired by Section 257 of the amended Communications Act of 1934, which requires the FCC to “identify and eliminate, through regulatory action, market entry barriers for entrepreneurs and other small businesses in the provision and ownership of telecommunications and information services.” NABJ is the only source in the country that collects employment census data, which is a critical component in determining if those barriers exist. -

CELEBRATING OUR PROGRESS Annual Report 2016-2017 3 JANUARY 2018 Office of the Cardinal MONTH of the HOLY NAME of JESUS 1011 First Avenue New York, NY 10022
CELEBRATING OUR PROGRESS Annual Report 2016-2017 3 JANUARY 2018 Office of the Cardinal MONTH OF THE HOLY NAME OF JESUS 1011 First Avenue New York, NY 10022 Dear Friends in the Lord: Our Catholic school system continues to thrive thanks to the laudable work of our visionary leaders. Our students are flourishing with the immense devotion of our teachers, principals, administrators, boards, committees, pastors, donors, parents and guardians whose passion is evident in the forward-looking investments that are bolstering our schools. As we work to strengthen the time-honored traditions that define Catholic education, you, our many stakeholders, form the cornerstone of our growth. This year, we witnessed the benefits of technology-infused learning come to fruition. Our classrooms were transformed into state-of-the-art teaching and learning environments and our students were equipped with the tools not only to succeed in their future careers but also, to make meaningful contributions to their communities in accordance with the call of the Gospels. We continue to be blessed with outstanding educators and administrators who are attuned to our students’ needs and are called by the Lord to their extraordinary vocational service. Above all, we witnessed our young men and women grow spiritually as they joyfully embraced a personal relationship with Christ and by their education in the faith. Never more relevant than in today’s world, our Catholic schools are defined by a mission to shape the heart and soul as well as the mind. This year marked a particularly challenging time in our nation as we responded to a series of heartbreaking natural disasters. -
