Kudremukh represents one of the world's major habitats and ecosystems and remains a signpost of tropical biological richness and thus declared as one of the 34 biological hotspots of the world & one of the 13 global mega-biodiversity hotspots for conservation. The undisturbed wet evergreen forests area of Kudremukh National Park holds one of the single largest contiguous populations of LTM in India and world. Kudremukh National Park is a representative of tropical wet evergreen forest holding the assemblage of three top carnivores like Tiger, Leopard and wild dogs. Kudremukh is a living museum and a natural laboratory for research, education and training on biological diversity. Kudremukh is the fountain head of major rivers like Tunga, Bhadra and Netravati rivers and catchment for many other minor rivers like Gurupura, Yenehole, Swarna ar,d Seethanadi, which provides livelihood to the people of Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh through agriculture. Kudremukh is a unique evergreen forest Shola-grassland ecosystem that performs many regulatory functions of the biosphere in terms of biogeochemical cycles. Kudremukh holds one of the highest standing biomasses estimated at an ayerage of 250-300 tons per ha and therefore acts as one of the great carbon sinks, a solution towards global warming & climate change phenomenon. Kudremukh National Park epitomize the conservation attitude of the Indian government & their people. Kudremukh epitomize one of the successful conservation movement, depicting the political will of Karnataka government and Indian government towards conservation over the negative development. Humans are very little aware of the complexity and functioning of this ecosystem. Kudremukh National Park is a place to refurn man to the eve of nature and make him realize that he is just one species be so for his own well-being and survival in among millions and that he should continue to link connecting protected area on the perpetuity.
