The Theory of Relativity Production Team Chris Crawford (Scenic and Lighting Designer) Chris holds a BA from LaGrange College in Theatre Arts with a Design Emphasis and a MFA from Indiana Universi- ty in Lighting Design and Theatre Technology. He currently serves as the Chair of Theatre Young Harris, and would like to thank our audience and especially our Friends of the Arts for their support of our program and our students! Shelley Gordon (Choreographer) Shelley was trained in all forms of dance at the Dolores Werner Performing Arts Studio as well as at Oklahoma City University with additional early childhood education studies at Georgia State University. With teaching, performing, and choreography as her passions, she joined the YHC theatre staff in 2011. Shelley teaches upper-level dance classes and has contributed her choreographic talents to several of Theatre Young Harris’ productions in the past two years. She also runs her own studio - Star Dance Performing Arts - in Hayesville, NC. He has served as the director or music director for more than 30 productions at Young Harris Col- The Theory of Relativity lege including Chicago, Carousel, Guys and Dolls (twice), The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma (twice), Pippin, Mikado and Pirates of Penzance, just to Music and Lyrics by Neil Bartram name a few. Mr. Bauman holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music Education and Book by Brian Hill Music Performance from Spring Arbor University and Master of Music degrees in “The Theory of Relativity was developed at the Choral Conducting Performance and Vocal Performance from Bowling Green Canadian Music Theatre Project, State University. A former NATS winner, Jeff has performed leading roles with Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.” Opera South Carolina, Atlanta Lyric Theater, Toledo Opera, Asheville Lyric Opera, and Opera Lenawee. Mr. Bauman remains active as both a singer and director, Director performing with the Orpheus men’s choir, and listing his favorite roles as Emile DeBecque in South Pacific, and the title role in Sweeny Todd. In addition to his David Weber YHC responsibilities, Mr. Bauman is the Director of Music at the First United Methodist Church of Union County. Musical Director Mr. Jeff Bauman Ansley Phenix (Stage Manager) Ansley Phenix is so excited to make her stage manager debut for The Theory of Relativity. She is a sophomore theatrical design and production major. She is an active member of her sorority Sigma Beta Sigma Costume Design Choreography as well as a member of the theater national honor society, Alpha Psi Omega.     SARAH BAUMGARTEN, SOPRANO Innately comical soprano Sarah Baumgarten has no trouble showcasing her personality through the repertoire she performs. He has served as principal guest conductor with the Asheville Lyric Opera Company since 2004. He is Music Director Laureate of the Harrisburg Choral Society & Orchestra and the York Symphony Orchestra & Chorus in Pennsylvania, and is conductor laureate of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra. His broad repertory of classical symphonic, opera, choral and ballet scores are complemented by his skills as a Pops conductor, and he has received critical praise on the podium here and abroad in all genres. His work the York Symphony Association has earned two awards from the League of American Orchestras (Student Song Contest in 2003 and Saturday Morning Symphony in 2005). His DVD of the St. Louis Philharmonic Holiday Spectacular won the national Telly Award in 2004 for best classical local cable TV production. This has been a busy season. We started our season with our sixth John Alexander National Vocal Competition, and the Winners’ Concert in September. Our Cabaret at Duling Hall series consisted of four musical theater productions scattered throughout the season. We also had a performance of The Hilarious World of Gilbert & Sullivan in November and Amahl and the Night Visitors in December.

He was born on July 27, 1933, in Peoria Illinois. As Senior Minister of Union Avenue Christian Church (1986 – 1999), Tom was devoted to his congregation as well as to various community outreach initiatives, including opening the doors of the church to Food Outreach, which fed men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS. Later he was instrumental in welcoming youth groups from all over the country to stay in the Urban Mission Inn and serve in various outreach ministries in St. Louis. Tom supported one of the most stellar choirs in any congregation, and he welcomed and encouraged a young university graduate to begin the Union Avenue Opera in 1995. He was a founding creator of the Interfaith Sidebar (Film and Faith) of the St. Louis International Film Festival. Tom was an avid photographer, golfer, and a lover of Labrador retrievers.
