Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to have been able to view the completed Design and Technology projects. Students have obviously thought long and hard about the concepts behind these projects and I am confident that they too will be viewed very favourably by the markers.

Student Executive Speeches

On Monday during Year assemblies, our prospective student executive for 2015 presented their election speeches to their peers prior to voting for the positions of Captain, Vice-Captain and SRC Executive. Each of the four female and five male students spoke with passion about the honour of leading the Manly Selective student body and their vision for 2015. I have absolute confidence that each of the nine students would be marvellous leaders of our school and I look forward with anticipation to the results of the voting procedures.

From The Deputy Principals

It was an absolute pleasure to take 12 aspiring Year 7 academics to the 2014 Mind Marathon hosted by East Hills Technology High School in Panania. Please see the report a little later in the newsletter. The most pleasing aspect for me was to see the manner in which these boys embraced an academic risk.

A very big thank you to Sze Foo who assisted with the train travel of 12 very independent and capable young gentlemen. Barbara Bannister Deputy Principal Years 7, 9 & 11

Most Year 12 students have now completed all their internal assessment for the HSC and many have also submitted projects, major works or performances. Students and parents have been emailed a letter highlighting the important dates for the remainder of the year. Please remember that, in many subjects, the work you have done at this stage represents only 50% of the final HSC marks and significant improvement can be achieved through continued revision of your work and practice doing past HSC papers. Sensei Says Looking for Host Families From 14 - 19 November MSC will again be hosting a group of 15 girls from Okinawa, Japan. The group is here to learn about Australian lifestyle, practice their English speaking skills and to have fun. We are looking for families to host students for these 5 nights. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about another culture and to make new friends. We hosted a group from the same school in 2012 and 2013 and it proved to be a rewarding, fun time for everyone involved.

If you are interested in hosting a student please go Vocal Ensemble Update to the LOTE/PE staffroom ASAP to pick up an Expression of Interest form or to make further Concert Information for Creative Arts Night enquiries.
