In 2019, the university was awarded the Institute of Eminence by the University Grants Commission. After ranking as the best Pharmacy institute for the third consecutive year in NIRF, Jamia Hamdard is now focusing on expanding globally. The university has an exhaustive research ecosystem and has produced 443 publications in the year 2019 and 405 in 2018. The High Powered Committee established by the Government of India to identify “Institution of Eminence” has recommended Jamia Hamdard among the top 5 universities existing in the private sector. Jamia Hamdard is the only privately funded university to get funding under the DST's PURSE (Promotion for University Research in Science and Engineering) Grant.     TB Diagnostics SeeTB - A novel alternative to sputum smear microscopy to diagnose tuberculosis in high burden countries. Handy and fast: The device is battery operated and allows quick identification of the bacteria Microscopy-based tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis i.e. Ziehl- Neelsen screening remains the primary diagnostic method in resource poor and high TB burden countries, however this method has poor sensitivity (~60%). Bringing three million TB patients who are left undiagnosed under the treatment has been a major focus as part of END-TB strategy across the world. It is a portable set-up called ‘SeeTB’ that converts a bright-field microscope into fluorescence microscope (FM) with minimal interventions.
