2009 Arizona Fall League Tidbits • The Arizona Fall League will hold its third annual Pat Tillman Foundation Benefit Night on Friday, October 23 at Scottsdale Stadium when the host Scottsdale Scorpions entertain the Peoria Javelinas at 6:35 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. An extensive sports memorabilia collection that includes an array of autographed major-league jerseys of current and former players will be auctioned before and during the game. AFL Futures Game Participants Sixteen 2009 Fall League players participated in the prestigious 2009 Futures Game during ’s All-Star festivities at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. They were C Jason Castro (HOU), OF Chris Heisey (CIN), OF Jason Heyward (ATL), RHP Chia-Jen Lo (HOU), and OF Nick Weglarz (CLE) of the Peoria Saguaros, IF Scott Sizemore (DET) and IF Dayan Viciedo (CHW) of the Peoria Javelinas, IF Danny Espinosa (WSH) and IF Jemile Weeks (OAK) of the Phoenix Desert Dogs, OF Daryl Jones (STL) and RHP Jenrry Mejia (NYM) of the Surprise Rafters, and IF Starlin Castro (CHC), IF Casey Kelly (BOS), OF Mike Stanton (FLA), OF Rene Tosoni (MIN), and IF Josh Vitters (CHC), of the Mesa Solar Sox.

The 2009 Major League Baseball postseason is comprised of 99 players (49 percent) who are alums of the Arizona Fall League. Leading the way are the and St. Louis Cardinals with 16 ex-Fall Leaguers.
