Objective: The present study was conducted to analyze the concept and provide a practical definition for emergency and disaster preparedness in nurses. Materials and Methods: The eight-step Walker and Avant’s approach was used to clarify the concept of disaster preparedness in nurses. A total of 40 articles selected on the subject through an extensive review of literature up to 2013 were analyzed and the relevant definitions, applications, attributes, antecedents, consequences and empirical referents were extracted. Results: According to the analysis conducted, the concept attributes include gaining the disaster knowledge and management capability, response planning strategies, response behavior exercises and the evaluation of the knowledge level and the response program content.

Among the five dimensions, the scores from the highest to lowest belonged to "membership in professional organizations", "a sense of calling", "self- regulation", "autonomy" and "public service". The relationship between nurses’ attitudes toward professionalism and variables of work experience and participation in training courses for individual empowerment was found to be statistically significant.

In this review study, some medical resources including nursing index, nursing consult, Proquest, Scopus, Elsevier, Pub Med, SID, Iranmedex, Magiran and Medlib were used in order to cover all associated studies. Searching articles from 1991 to 2012 was performed by using key words: Undergraduate nursing education, community health, and review studies separately and in combination. Inadequate productivity weakness of holistic and community-oriented attitude of nursing students, non-applicability and poor training methods are the biggest problems in community health nursing education.

This paper is a survey of modern nursing transformation history in the historical period of the World Wars and their impacton the development of the nursing profession in Iran. Methods: In the present historical study, following the statement of the problem, by an aim to access to the relevant information resources, we studied primary and secondary sources relevant to the research topic. 107 documents including photos, letters, official reports, journal archives, websites, memories, autobiographies, articles and books were studied. To complete the social conditions in this period of the history, the oral tradition history was used, too. First, the social situation of Iran at these periods of history was briefly reviewed and collected data were analyzed. Finally, the causal relationships in the development of nursing-related incidents were investigated. Results: The results of this study can be divided into three sections: socio-political situation in Iran during the Word Wars, the beginning of modern nursing and the start of academic nursing training in Iran. Based on our findings, interactions of multiple factors such as war, famine, presence of foreign forces, and beginning the modern age have led to the onset of modern nursing and nursing education in Iran.

Nursing shortage, turnover, and sexism are threatening the nursing profession. Hence, it is crucial to evaluate and compare the perceived public nursing image of nurses and public as they both contribute to the formation and improvement of the public nursing image. Aim : to describe and compare the perspectives of both urban citizens and nurses on the public nursing image. In addition, investigating the association between the perceived public nursing image of nurses with their passion for work, job satisfaction and work experience.
