Notice of Race J/80 Danish Championship 2021 the Royal Danish Yacht Club Rungsted, Copenhagen, Denmark July 1 – 2, 2021 Notice of Race J/80 Danish Championship 2021 The Royal Danish Yacht Club Rungsted, Copenhagen, Denmark July 1 – 2, 2021 The Organizing Authority (“OA”) The Royal Danish Yacht Club in cooperation with the Danish J/80 Association has the pleasure of inviting you to the Danish Sailing Federation’s Danish Championship (DS-DM) Version 2 – 2021-04-27 Notice of Race J/80 Danish Championship 2021, Rungsted, Denmark Notice of Race 1. Rules 1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. 1.2. The applying prescriptions of the Nordic Sailing Association and the Danish Sailing Association will be incorporated into the Sailing Instructions. 1.3. The rules of the following documents will apply: ● Statutes for Danish Championships in Sailing - https://dansksejlunion.dk/media/cswjldlc/dm-statutter-eng.pdf ● The J/80 Class Rules - https://www.sailing.org/28205.php 1.4. Racing Rules will be changed as follows: ● Rule 33 will be changed so that signal flag C together with repetitive sounds are sufficient signals when changing the position of the next nark. ● Rules 35, A4 and A5.1 will be changed to state, that boats failing to finish within 15 minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes will be scored Did Not Finish. ● Rules 44.1 will be changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One- Turn Penalty. ● Rule 60.1(a) will be changed to state that a competitor cannot protest another boat or competitor for breaches of specific parts of the sailing instructions. ● Rule A4 and A5.1 will be changed by stating, that a boat starting later than 4 minutes after her starting signal will be scored Did Not Start. ● The Sailing Instructions may also change other racing rules. 1.5. National authority prescription that apply: Danish legislation requires every boat to be equipped with personal buoyancy for the number of persons on board at any time. 1.6. If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence. Ver. 2 – 2021-04-27 - p. 2 of 10 Notice of Race J/80 Danish Championship 2021, Rungsted, Denmark 2. Sailing instructions 2.1. The Sailing Instructions will be available on Manage2Sail June 27th at the latest. 3. Radio communication 3.1. The official notice board will be in Manage2Sail. 3.2. Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. 3.3. The race officer intends to broadcast race management information regarding the courses, the start, recalls, rescue instructions (RRS 37) etc. to the fleet by VHF Radio. 4. Eligibility and entry 4.1. The regatta is open only to members of the J/80 Class as defined by the J/80 Class Rule (C3.3) and being registered with their National Class Association. 4.2. All helmsmen will have to confirm membership of a national J/80 Class Association, in accordance with international class rules. If the owner of a boat is not part of the crew, a loan declaration must be submitted upon registration. Loan declaration can be found here: http://www.sejlsport.dk/kapsejlads/arrangoer/virtuelt-kontor/bureau 4.3. All participants must be member of a sailing club affiliated with a national authority under World Sailing. Documentation for this must be sent by email to [email protected] 25/06/2021 at the latest. 4.4. Eligible boats may pre-register by completing the entry form at https://manage2sail.com/ - by June 14th at the latest. The entry fee includes launching, dock space, hauling and sailors’ dinner Thursday (up to 4 persons) and after sailing beer Thursday and Friday. 4.5. Payment must be done through Manage2sail by credit card or bank wire. 4.6. Late entries after June 14th will be accepted with an additional fee to the pre-register fee. Documentation of membership of a sailing club for the entire crew. Copy of measurement certificate. Loan declaration if applicable. Appendix 1: Owner Regatta Declaration. Appendix 2: Crew Weight Declaration. 5. Fee 5.1. Entry fee is 215 Euro. Late entry is 255 Euro The entry fee includes launching, dock space, hauling and sailors’ dinner Thursday (up to 4 persons) and after sailing beer Thursday and Friday. Payment must be done through Manage2sail by credit card or bank wire. 6. Advertising, Rights to use names and likenesses 6.1. Skippers and competitors automatically grant to the OA, without payment, the right in perpetuity to make, use and show any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television of or relating to the event, where their image or name may appear. 6.2. Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. 7. Schedule 7.1. Wednesday, June 30th 17.00 – 21.00 Race Office open: Registration Launching of boats Thursday, July 1st 08.00 – 09-30 Race Office open: Registration 09.55 First warning Friday, July 2nd 08.00 – 09.30 Race Office open 09.55 First Warning 7.2. No warning signal after 15:30 of July 2nd. 7.3. A total of 8 races are scheduled. Ver. 2 – 2021-04-27 - p. 4 of 10 Notice of Race J/80 Danish Championship 2021, Rungsted, Denmark 8. Measurement 8.1. Each boat shall have a valid measurement certificate and this must be sent via email to [email protected] by 25/06/2021 at the latest. 8.2. Boats must come with certified sails in accordance with Class Rules. 8.3. Organizers reserve the right to conduct measurement checks before, during or after any race. 9. Venue 9.1. The regatta harbour will be Rungsted Havn. The Race office is in the club house of The Royal Danish Yacht Club at Rungsted harbour, 2960 Rungsted Kyst 9.2. The course will be the waters east of Rungsted harbour. 10. The course(s) 10.1. The course to be sailed will be a ”Windward/Leeward course” with a spreader mark at the top and finish in the bottom. 10.2. A diagram showing the course including information of the approximate sailing time will be part of the Sailing Instructions. 11. Penalties 11.1. Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced with the One-Turn Penalty. 12. Scoring 12.1. Four races are required to be completed to constitute a Danish championship. If fewer races are completed, at regatta winner can be elected. 12.2. a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat´s series score will be the total of her race scores. b) When 5 or more races have been completed, a boat´s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. 13. Support Boats 13.1. Coach and support boats must register in the race office within the entry time established. Coach and support boats shall display identification flags, issued by the Organizing Authority. Coach and support boats must be at least 50 meters from any racing boats. All support boats shall comply with RRS 37. 14. Berthing 14.1. Boats shall be kept in their assigned places while they are in the harbour. 15. Haul-out restrictions Ver. 2 – 2021-04-27 - p. 5 of 10 Notice of Race J/80 Danish Championship 2021, Rungsted, Denmark 15.1. Keelboats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee. 16. Diving equipment and plastic pools 16.1. Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around keelboats between the preparatory signal of the first race and the end of the regatta. 17. Data Protection See Appendix 3 18. Disclaimer of liability 18.1. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 3, Decision to Race. 18.2. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 19. Safety 19.1. RRS 40.1 applies from the time the boat leaves land and until it returns to land: All participants must be wearing personal buoyancy aids, except when there is a short change or change of clothing or personal equipment. Wetsuits and dry suits are not considered personal buoyancy aids. 20. Insurance 20.1. Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 2.000.000 EURO per incident or the equivalent 21. Prizes 21.1. The title “Danish Champion” and the medals are awarded to the best scoring participant and crew where all crew members are members of a Danish sailing club, independent to their nationality - according to Statutes for Danish Championships in Sailing. 21.2. Prizes will as a minimum be awarded for the first three boats. 21.3. Prize giving will take place soonest possible after racing Friday. The event will at all time comply with the Danish government guidelines and laws regarding Covid-19 virus. This may change NOR or SI. 22.2. Information on how these guidelines will affect the event will be provided on the event website and through Manage2Sail.

The club responded that it was covered by an exception for “private clubs or establishments exempted from coverage under title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1964,” 42 U.S.C. § 12187, and it refused the member’s request for an exception to its pet policy. The relationship between the member and the club deteriorated from there. The member filed an administrative complaint with a local civil rights authority, and the club suspended her and then expelled her from its membership. The member sued for discrimination and retaliation under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Florida Civil Rights Act.

All students must take a swim test each year on the first day of class. The swim test requires each student to swim 200 feet wearing sailing clothes (shoes included), tread water for two minutes without a lifejacket and then put on his/her lifejacket in the water. Equipment Quissett Yacht Club (QYC) provides all boats used by sailors in the Junior Sailing Program. Daily, each sailor must bring a Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device with an attached whistle to be worn at all times on the water, and wear toe-covering shoes (no Crocs). Sailors are encouraged to wear sun protective clothing. In addition they should bring sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle to class each day. Registration Class sizes are limited. Registration packages will be processed in the order received.

    Press Release Bayerischer Yacht-Club wins St. Petersburg Qualifier in SAILING Champions League St. Petersburg, 7 July 2019 – Bayerischer Yacht-Club from Germany has won the third and final Qualifier of the SAILING Champions League 2019. They won by 4 points from the also German runner-up, Wassersport-Verein Hemelingen. Union Yacht Club Wolfgangsee from Austria became third. Of the 20 teams competing, the top six have qualified for a place at the Final in St. Moritz next month. They are: 1. Bayerischer Yacht-Club (Germany) 2. Wassersport-Verein Hemelingen (Germany) 3. Union Yacht Club Wolfgangsee (Austria) 4. PIRogovo (Russia) 5. Regattaclub Oberhofen (Switzerland) 6. St. Petersburg Yacht Club (Russia) The event was frustrated by no racing on day one, due to excessively strong winds. This was followed by two days of very light airs, which meant only five flights of racing could be completed before the final day. The wind for the last day was also light but consistent and enough for another three flights, making every result count more than usual. Skipper Julian Autenrieth of the winning team from Bayerischer Yacht-Club commented: “The location in St. Petersburg is great here in the middle of the city. But the conditions were really tricky, with the low winds and the current. You always had to be able to stay calm. What we did well throughout were the starts with the current. This meant that we were often starting off among the top three, which made the races easier for us.” On Friday there was a Gala Dinner under the theme of ‘Connecting through sport’, which took place alongside five international teams from the Nord Stream Race who had just completed the 1,000 mile offshore race along the length of the Baltic Sea.

Situated on the bay, members often take advantage of this picturesque scene while enjoying a cocktail on the deck, or dining in one of our two bay front dining rooms.     YACHT CLUB COSTA SMERALDA Press Release Preparations Underway for Second SAILING Champions League Hamburg/Porto Cervo, 7th September 2015 – For the second time in sailing history, the SAILING Champions League is taking place, with this year's event being hosted at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in Porto Cervo in Sardinia from 18th to 20th September 2015. The organisers are expecting 32 clubs from over 12 nations to participate in the prestigious, transnational club competition, ready to challenge the defending champion, the Royal Danish Yacht Club from Copenhagen, and claim the trophy. Only one year after the inaugural event of the SAILING Champions League, this year’s event in Porto Cervo at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda brings a showdown of the best sailing clubs of the national sailing leagues. The club competition with a standard format featuring short races lasting not more than 15 minutes on one-design boats very close to the shoreline was an important development for the sport of sailing. The 2014 event was so successful that 13 European countries and the USA were so excited about the format that they created their own sailing leagues in 2015. Clubs from more than twelve nations will be flying to Italy in mid-September to challenge the defending champion from Copenhagen, the Royal Danish Yacht Club, in the fight for the sought-after trophy from Robbe & Berking. Technology partner SAP will be providing the live broadcasting from Friday to and Sunday. Rules: Races will be governed by the rules as defined in the current The Racing Rules of Sailing and by the Notice of Race and these Sailing Instructions. 2. Eligibility and Entry 2.1. Races are open to boats of all types from CYC and NHYC with a currently valid PHRF certificate issued by HRYRA or by YRALIS, except as allowed by 4.2. 2.2. Start will be Pursuit Start - Each boat will be assigned a start time addition to the Starting gun based on their PHRF rating. 2.3. First Gun ( Warning) will be at 2:30 pm 3. Signals Made Ashore: There will be no signals made from shore. 4. Classification. 4.1. Boats shall have a currently valid PHRF certificate issued by HRYRA or by YRALIS. 4.2. All CYC and NHYC members and guests are encouraged to participate regardless of their experience level. A master/owner who does not race on a regular basis may apply for a temporary CYC PHRF certificate by completely filling out a PHRF application (available from the CYC Fleet Captain) and submitting it to the CYC Fleet Captain ([email protected]). PHRF numbers assigned by the CYC Fleet Captain cannot be appealed. 5. Schedule and Class Flags 5.1. Races will be held on Saturday July 17, 2021. First gun 2:30 PM. The races will start at CYC and finish in the vicinity of New Hamburg Yacht Club with a party to follow at NHYC.
