CLASSES WITH LOW ENROLLMENT WILL BE CANCELLED 7 days PRIOR TAKE THE STAGE BY STORM THEATER FOR ALL AGES THEATER CLASSES PlayLab: Mary Shelley’s TPL090719 Ages 7-18 Saturdays, Sept 7 - Oct 12 9am-12pm $185 Frankenstein for Kids These classes are designed to take students through the full process of producing and acting in a play. All PlayLab classes include auditions, casting, rehearsals, blocking, stagecraft, and a final performance for friends and family on the last day of class. In the fall session, performers will produce a 15 minute (or so), humorous retelling of the classic literature horror story, Frankenstein, just in time for some Halloween fun! Become a Student TBS091419 Ages 15-18 Saturdays, Sept 14 - Oct 5 1:30pm-3:30pm $82 Director From play selection to final bows, students will learn what it takes to direct a show. Students will work with a professional Director to hold auditions, block scenes, create stage pictures, and develop an overall vision for a mock production. This class is a stepping stone to becoming a Student Director for an upcoming CFABS Youth Players production. PlayLab: Charles TPL102619 Ages 7-18 Saturdays, Oct 26 - 9am-12pm $185 Dickens' A Christmas December 7 Carol for Kids *No class 11/30/19 These classes are designed to take students through the full process of producing and acting in a play. Become a Student TBS110219 Ages 15-18 Saturdays, Nov 2-23 1:30pm-3:30pm $82 Choreographer Jazz squares and grapevines and kick lines…OH MY! Students will learn the ins and outs of developing choreography for a production. Not all choreography is "dance"; sometimes it's just moving in a pattern to a rhythm in groups. Sometimes it's arm movements and facial expressions. No formal dance training required (but would be a bonus). Each workshop focuses on a specific aspect of the theater. BUILD IT! Learn how to use inexpensive supplies to help create a magical theatre world for actors to perform in. Professionalism 101: TW092719 Ages 13-18 Friday, Sept 27 5:30pm-7:30pm $40 Theatre Kids in the Digital Age After School/Evening Class What does “professionalism” mean in youth theater? What does it mean in a world of social media? Students will learn from a panel of professionals about appropriate behavior on and off stage, and how that behavior can develop into a reputation that can precede them to an audition. A portion of the class will focus primarily on how your social media presence can impact your future in the theatre in either a positive or negative way. Choreography Basics for TW100419 Ages 11-18 Friday, Oct 4 5:30pm-7:30pm $25 Non-Dancing Actors After School/Evening Class Learn some simple dance moves that show up often in musical theatre choreography. Students will also learn the secrets to looking good even when you aren't a "dancer." Jazz shoes or character shoes encouraged but not required; closed-toe shoes of some sort required. Special Effects Makeup TW102519 Ages 11-18 Friday, Oct 25 5:30pm-7:30pm $25 After School/Evening Class Students will learn some of the fun ways to make themselves look completely different…just in time for Halloween!! Scars, wounds, prosthetics, bruises, and lots of blood! Learn the basic techniques to make them happen...without all the trauma. BUILD IT! Building Your Songbook TW112219 Ages 8-18 Friday, Nov 22 5:30pm-7:30pm $25 After School/Evening Class Students will work with a Musical Theater professional to select songs for their audition book. Time will be spent singing different songs from different genres of musicals. AUDITION DOS & DON’TS DO Be polite to every single human you see Dress appropriately Face forward so everyone in the room can see you Make bold, interesting, motivated choices Choose your audition pieces wisely Exude confidence DON’T Stand too close to the auditors or reader Yell throughout your entire audition Dress in costume Get down on yourself MASTERING YOUR AUDITION WORKSHOPS These workshops will provide great insight and training for preparing for an upcoming audition. Learn the dos and don’ts and gain confidence in your presentation. In each workshop, you will receive tips from a casting director about etiquette, technique, and preparation. You will be able to put your skills to work through a mock audition. Other topics include song and monologue selection (dependent upon upcoming production), cold readings, how to combat nervousness, and knowing your character type. Come prepared with a 1 minute monologue and a 16-32 bar cut of a musical piece (if the upcoming production is a musical).
