It had also spread the message of how girls can discretely accesses sanitary products, another important factor for the younger less confident females.

Year 13 student Belle West ( pictured) has been promoting the project at the College ‘the Red Box project is an amazing charity that not only raises awareness of the many girls nationally that don’t have access to sanitary products but also provides help for those local girls in need, I’m proud that my school has chosen to support them’

Stuart Edwards, Principal at the College said of the project ” We are pleased to be supporting this charity and the positive work they are doing within school communities.”

Midhurst Rother College Armistice Week 2018

Throughout Armistice Week at Midhurst Rother College, students and staff are working within college and with the local community to mark the 100 year anniversary of the end of World War One. Students are creating a poppy memorial to be laid at the front of the school on Friday 9th November as well as taking part in the Postcards for Peace Campaign, which sees every student in the college write their own words for peace and then displayed all together. The College canteen is serving a ‘Great British Menu’ all week for students and staff to enjoy, we have bunting hanging up around our canteen, a changing college screens display of local war heroes and many other activities, specifically;

Using resources by the Midhurst U3A WW1 War Memorial Project, memory boards have been created for each of the WW1 soldiers remembered on the College’s war memorial, to bring the carved names to life again. These board will also be placed among the poppy field installation, being constructed by students at the front of the College.

Following a community appeal for family stories of the WW1 a number of boards have also been pro- duced and displayed by the College library telling narratives of local people and their experience during the First World War. The College would like to thank everyone who contributed to this.

Family and friends of Corporal David O’Connor, who attended and was killed in Afghanistan in October 2014, will join students and staff on Friday for the memorial assembly. Follow- ing the assembly, guests from Rother Valley Together Group, Rotherlea Care Home and the local area will be joining our house captains for a tea party, to chat about their memoires and experience of WW2 and conflicts since.
