Paradise Found The owners of this attractive home have enjoyed life here so much that they’ve stayed for 16 years – the longest they have ever stayed in one place! “We tend to move around a lot. Our children had grown up and flown the nest when we came here, so we were able to choose a place that worked for the two of us and it’s surpassed our expectations. We would have been happy to stay longer still but we want to be nearer our grandchildren,” they explain. They first came to the area on holiday, staying with friends nearby, and fell in love with the countryside and the pace of life. Once they spotted this house, they knew it was the one for them and set about making it their own. “We put a lot into it but it’s been worth it,” they smile.

Family And Friends The layout here is brilliant because the ground floor has an easy circular flow, with the rooms leading around one into another while still being separate and clearly defined. All are a good size too. There’s a sociable kitchen with a breakfast bar where you can sit with a coffee for a catch up or chat to whoever is cooking. The room leads into a sunny conservatory and into the formal dining room. “We eat in the dining room at every meal. It’s a bright and cheerful room with doors onto the garden, so you can open it up in summer.” The dining room easily accommodates a large table and a seating area and leads in turn into the spacious sitting room with fireplace and bay window. It’s a practical layout as it’s easy to keep an eye on younger children wherever they are and you are, while giving older ones space to do their own thing. The owners have celebrated many family gatherings here! The circular flow of the ground floor makes it a very sociable and practical house. It’s great for entertaining and for all the generations gathering together.” Sunny Seclusion Keen gardeners, the owners have enjoyed spending as much time as possible outside. There’s a terrace to the rear of the house that gets the afternoon and evening sun and looks out over a generous lawned area. The owners have divided the garden into several sections, each with its own character, and with various seating areas designed to make the most of the light at different times of the day. While it’s very quiet here, it’s still very much a part of the village and you have all ages around. Wrentham has been named the Best Kept Village 10 times! There’s so much going on, including bowls, tennis, a village hall with monthly cinema nights and weekly children’s and youth groups, a café, pubs, takeaway, shop and Post Office, playground and more, so it’s handy having so much on the doorstep. Yet look out of the house and all you see are open fields. “As the crow flies, we have nobody in front of us – Covehithe is next and then the sea. There are footpaths so you can walk through open countryside or to the coast and we have done that many times with our dogs over the years.” This is a highly desirable area, with traditional seaside towns, nature reserves, dunes and more to capture the imagination. The owners love to hop in the car late afternoon or early evening and head to Southwold as the day trippers leave, enjoying all the benefits of a holiday town without the hustle and bustle!

“We fell in love with the area and we’re so glad we made the move here – the village is great and the countryside beautiful.”

“We love spending time out in the garden. It’s matured nicely and has different seating areas from which to enjoy it all.”

“The views are completely uninterrupted out from the front of the house and are simply magnificent.”

“Every room here is so bright and well proportioned. It’s been a pleasure to live here and we have stayed here far longer than we ever intended!” Local Authority: East Suffolk Council
