A category that is sure to get your heart racing – the Australian Formula 3 Premier Series. Australian Formula 3 is Australia’s premier open-wheel motor racing category. A fiercely competitive, yet surprisingly affordable series boasts the most authentic Formula racing experience in the region. Drivers from all over the world have competed in Australian Formula 3 not only showcasing it’s ability to provide young drivers with the best proving ground, but enhancing the competition as well. Australian Formula 3 is managed by Formula 3 Management Pty Lts, a company formed with the sole purpose of promoting and growing ‘Wings and Slicks’ racing in Australia by: Providing the most cost-effective internation spec open-wheel raing in Australia. Offering the most competitive racing possible. Providing the best ‘training base’ for drivers seeking to progress their career either in Australia or Overseas, plus a stable platform for those wishing to enjoy driving the fastest racing cars in Australia. In 2018 Australian Formula 3 will be run and promoted by Formula 3 Management Pty Ltd, promising to increase the exposure of the National Series further. Racing in the premier open wheel class in Australia has never been more affordable, so there’s no better time to join Australia’s premier motor racing category. THE CALENDAR The 2018 Australian Formula 3 Premier Series will be run over 6 rounds in 4 States, you’ll see Australia's fastest racing cars: PROGRAM: Round 1 - March 8-11, Winton Raceway, Benalla (Vic) Round 2 - April 20-22, Queensland Raceway, Ipswich (Qld) Round 3 - June 8-10, Morgan Park Raceway, Warwick (Qld) Round 4 - June 29-July 1, Sydney Motorsport Park, Sydney (NSW) Round 5 - September 7-9, Wakefield Park Raceway, Goulburn (NSW) Round 6 - October 19-21, The Bend Motorsport Park, Tailem Bend (SA) TRACK TIME: 3x 15 min Practice Sessions 1x 15min Qualifying on Saturday 1x 20min Race on Saturday (expressed as Laps) 2x 20min Races on Sunday (expressed as Laps) Note: Race 3 is the ‘Feature Race’ AWARDS Trophies: 1st, 2nd and 3rd for Premier Class 1st for National Class 1st for Trophy Class (when more than 3 entrants) Pole Award: All Properties Group will again provide the $500 outright Pole Position Award. _____________________________________________________________ 2018 AUSTRALIAN FORMULA 3 INFORMATION 1 CLASSES AND COSTS PREMIER CLASS FORMULA 3 CARS BUILT BETWEEN 2005 & 2011 . The Premier Class is the outright class, awarded to Australia’s fastest driver. Any Formula 3 specification vehicles built between 1/1/2005 to 31/12/2011 are eligible. The entry fee for the Premier Class in 2018 is $1100 (includes GST, garage and practice) NATIONAL CLASS FORMULA 3 CARS BUILT BETWEEN 2002 & 2007* *Cars built between 2005 & 2007 can nominate for either the National or Premier Class. The National Class is a title within a title, awarded to those with earlier model cars. Any Formula 3 specification vehicles built between 1/1/2002 to 31/12/2007 are eligible. The entry fee for the National Class in 2018 is $900 (includes GST, garage and practice) TROPHY CLASS DEFINED IN THE 2018 SPORTING & TECHNICAL REGULATIONS . The Trophy Class is an invitational class for older Formula 3 models plus other open wheel cars including F-1000, FFord-2000, F-Renault, F-BMW, TRS, F-4 & Similar vehicles. The entry fee for the Trophy Class will be as per the local circuit promoter. ENTRANTS AND MEMBERSHIPS FORMULA 3 MANAGEMENT CLUB MEMBERSHIPS . Entrants (Car Owners): $100 Drivers: $100 Ordinary members: $50 SERIES ENTRY All entrants and drivers to be a member of Formula 3 Management Pty Ltd. A series entry form must be completed at the beginning of season. Confirmation entry for each round to F3M, F3M to submit all paper work to circuit. Payment to F3M with confirmation entry ten (10) days prior to event, a $100 late entry fee will apply after the closing date. An Entry is only considered valid once all fees are paid. ENTRANT DEFINITIONS . A Registered F3 entrant - All chassis eligible A registered entrant is one that wishes to compete for The F3 Premier Class title, points and trophies plus any other benefits such as prize-monies/pole award, sponsorship, travel subsidies etc *if available Conditions. 1. Pay a $600 sign on fee prior to February 20th 2018. Sign on fee rebate to be reimbursed, 50% after round 3 and 50% after round 6. 2. Purchase one (1) set of Hankook Racing tyres per car per round. 3. To enter a minimum of one (1) car at all rounds. A Non-Registered F3 entrant - All chassis eligible A non-registered entrant is not required to comply with the above conditions 1 to 3 but is eligible for class trophies and points. A Trophy entrant An entrant competing in a pre 2001 F3 chassis or non F3 racing car. 1st place trophy awarded when three (3) or more entries are received. _____________________________________________________________ 2018 AUSTRALIAN FORMULA 3 INFORMATION 2 FREE ONBOARD FOOTAGE As part of the Formula 3 entry package, all cars are fitted with on board cameras which are recorded by Formula 3 Management Footage for your car is available to use as an analysis tool, as well as for use for your digital media and PR channels to get more exposure for you and your team. (Teams to supply a hard drive/USB to Formula 3 Management for supply of footage) OUR TEAMS The success of Australian Formula lies with our passionate and supportive group of teams, who consistently support the category. Teams offer Drive Packages with rates that include Series and Entry Fees. Some teams also offer a support service for those who own their own cars but lack the resources or expertise. Gilmour finished 2nd in their first year of F3 competition in 2004, then winning the Outright 2011, ’15 & ’17 Australian Formula 3 Titles as well as the 2007, ’12, ’15 & ’16 National Class Titles. The team won the 2012 Australian Formula 3 Drivers Championship as well as the 2011 & ’17 National Class Titles. In 2017 R-Tek Motorsport Services cars won races in both Premier and National classes. Stott has spent time with Australia’s top teams as well as a stint in British Formula 3. Owner/Driver Shane Wilson showed consistency is the key winning the class back to back in 2015 and 2016. Wilson Team Racing upgraded to a Dallara F307 finishing 2nd in the National Class for 2017.
