Led by the Canadian Car of the Year, the Chevrolet Cruze, February car sales increased 13 percent for Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac. “Industry sales were softer in February, but we are well-positioned to achieve our targets for profitable and sustainable growth in 2011,” said Marc Comeau, vice president of sales, service and marketing at GM of Canada. “Our award-winning vehicles like the Chevrolet Cruze, Buick Regal and Cadillac SRX demonstrate our ability to win new customers, and we’re confident that our new products launching later this year, including Chevrolet Orlando, Chevrolet Volt, Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, will build on this momentum.” February 2011 Key Facts and Brand Results Total sales for Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac cars are up 13 percent. Chevrolet compact car sales increased over 50 percent from last February, led by strong sales from Cruze, posting a 22 percent increase from February while being named Canadian Car of the Year at the Canadian International Auto Show. Buick car sales increased 68 percent in February compared to one year ago. Continuing as one of Canada’s fastest growing luxury brands, total Buick sales rose eight percent for the month and 26 percent YTD. Cadillac reported a total sales increase of three percent compared to last February, with retail sales increasing ten percent. Growth was led by a 35 percent rise in total sales for SRX, its fourteenth consecutive month of increases. Compared to last February, discontinued brand sales decreased from 867 to 7, resulting in a decrease of 11.6 percent for total GM sales.
