Lynne Squires Looking...at Elk GroveBack (Craik-Patton House) When the house was moved in 1906 to make way for a street additi on, the foundati on placed the house much closer to the ground. Other Charleston families owned the house through the years. Its gradual deteriorati on, combined with its locati on in a declining secti on of Lee Street garnered the att enti on of the Nati onal Society of Colonial Dames of America. In the 1960s, the organizati on spearheaded a drive to purchase and save the home from demoliti on. In 1973, the house was divided into three secti ons and moved over two days to its present locati on at Daniel Boone Park on US Route 60.
