3rd day 4th October 2017

Wednesday started very early, at 7 o'clock as a trip was organised to Toruń, which is located 250 km from Warsaw. Toruń city is the birthplace of Nicolaus Copernicus, one of the greatest Poles.

The city is located in Northern Poland, on the . In the Middle Ages Toruń was a prominent trade centre as a member of the Hanseatic League. . Toruń is the most Gothic urban complex in Poland, one of the most important and crowded tourist centres of unique value, right after Krakow the second richest of original and best preserved historical monuments city in Poland.

The whole complex of Toruń Old Quarter, of unique value, measured by world standards, consists of three historical urban sections: (1233), New City (1264) and the Teutonic Knights' Castle (mid. 13th c.). All of them are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The medieval urban and architectonic complex of Toruń has preserved on the whole and constitutes a precious document of tradition and past. The more precious as it is one of the not numerous cities that hasn't been destroyed during the world war II. Toruń is also one of the most important science and cultural centres in Poland with its bigest and oldest university in the North.

The students and teachers visited the city with two tourist guides and later took part in the gingerbread workshop. They learned there the history of the famous Toruń gingerbread craft, which had its origins in the 14th century and flourished in the 17th and 18th centuries. The most enjoyable part of the workshop was the chance to bake our own gingerbreads and taste the ones produced the bakers.

4th day 5th October 2017

The last but one day started at Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, where everybody could carry out experiments and discover the laws of science. The Copernicus Science Centre is a huge space where students can discover learning mechanisms .We can say that it is an extraordinary scientifics laboratory. Participants of mobility could experiment, ask questions and seek answers. They observed theirs bodies, its’ fitness, limits and features. They also had possibility to discover mysteries of the six senses, time perception and functioning in a certain environment. All of them reflected on project-based learning as a learning method.

After lunch in Copernicus Science Centre the students came back school. They worked on a project. The aim was to prepare presentations for the following day . During group work they used new knowledge which they have learned. Later, sport activities were organised in the gym.

Summary of the satisfaction survey result after the meeting in Poland

The questions were mainly focused on implementation of the meeting program points and the evaluation of the experience with accommodation with the host families. A completed satisfaction survey let us know what participants think about the Sports Formula meeting in Poland.

The survey was completed by 17 students from Croatia, Latvia, France and Italy, participating in the short- term exchange of groups of pupils during a week.

The impression of accommodation was high. Everyone paid attention to Polish hospitality and a nice reception by host families.

Selected comments given by students: people there are very welcoming; nice and polite people; very clean and hospitable.

Most of the students think that project improved their foreign communication skills and capacity of understanding a different culture.

The answers show that they acquired different competencies in many fields especially communication but also leadership in teamwork. The answer that was often chosen is the one in which a respondent student place special attention on the acquiring of new knowledge as valuable

competence.

11

They believe that interesting points of the meeting plan were the guided tour of the and a trip to Torun with the Gingerbread Museum workshop.

As shown in the pie chart, 53,3% of respondents say that the tour of the Warsaw Old Town was excellent.

A trip to Torun and workshop in the Gingerbread Museum where students took part in an interactive show through which they were taught how to make a traditional gingerbread was an excellent point of the meeting plan for 73.3% of

students. The most satisfaction activity was visiting the Copernicus Science Center. The pie chart below shows that 86.7% of students consider learning through play as a valuable activity.

12

In the end, the students were asked what made the meeting succeed and what should be done better. Their comments were basically focused on the cold weather and too long trips with guides. The ease of communication is a success. Great cooperation and great host families also contributed to the success of the meeting.

Each student thinks that the meeting has enriched them with valuable skills.
