The usual bullshit ensues. Still awake? Not for long if you read this book! The one exception is towards the end when Billy suffers a major loss and, being a kid, has Superman Shazam First Thunder dealing with it, Superman Shazam First Thunder to Superman that Captain Marvel is secretly a child. Feb 15, James DeSantis rated it liked it. A nice stand alone story of how Superman and Shazam can be so alike, yet so different. This is a basic team up idea. Both Superman and Shazam are after the same people. When things get a bit too much for each other they decide to team up and Superman Shazam First Thunder some booty. Easy enough premise. Then, a terrible event happens to one of them and this takes a darker route than I expected. The last few pages really sum up who these characters are and why they are so alike and different all at once. Good: The art is A Superman Shazam First Thunder stand alone story of how Superman and Shazam can be so alike, yet so different. Good: Superman Shazam First Thunder art is cartoony as hell but it works so well. I love the brightness and happiness of it all. I also thought Superman and Shazam dialogue back Superman Shazam First Thunder forth is both endearing and fun. The last issue hits home and those final few pages really made me smile to show who these characters are and why. It sums it up perfectly. Bad: The pacing is a bit Superman Shazam First Thunder. Think being 4 issues it gets rushed though a bit. I also felt like the basic storyline, least first 3 issues, are fun but just same old we've always seen. Overall, Superman Shazam First Thunder 3. A nice surprise. With a extra issue I can see this being a 4 out of 5. View 2 comments. Apr 29, L. McCoy rated it liked it Shelves: comics-and-graphic-novelskindle-unlimitedreviewedactionsuperherodc-vertigo. Unfortunately the dialogue is pretty bad and many moments are anti-climactic. The art is hit or miss, sometimes it looks amazing and fits the book super well, other times it looks hideous. Had potential to be much better. Dec 08, Gavin rated it liked it Shelves: comics. This book seems aimed at younger readers, but that's not a bad thing. Judd Winick is talented, and here he tells the tale of when Superman and Captain Marvel first meet. The best part of this is the emotional bond that forges between 2 of the most powerful men on the planet. What takes it to a whole new level, is when one of them finds out the other isn't a man at all I may have been feeling overly sentimental, but I smiled at this one. Simple plot, bad guys aren't the important part at all. A This book seems aimed at younger readers, but that's not a Superman Shazam First Thunder thing. A quick, easy read, simple book, and a decent book for kids looking to get into comics. May 06, Anna rated it liked it. A Superman Shazam First Thunder story that could've been better. I liked the realistic consequences suffered by Captain Marvel in the shoot-out at the subway station. But my favorite Superman Shazam First Thunder was Superman Shazam First Thunder relationship between Marvel and Superman, especially that last page. Super fun, enjoyable, and light-hearted adventure with Superman and Captain Marvel meeting. Really wish they had done a sequel. I love the art style, and it fits the tone perfectly, though sometimes faces were a little weird to me. Mar 26, Rachel rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites. I'm bias AF when it comes to reviewing this super short comic because I love Shazam a lot and I especially love Billy and Clark's relationship. Clark being a mentor to Billy is just so good and sweet and pure that I want it in every comic, TV show, and movie. While this i I'm bias AF when it comes to reviewing this super short comic Superman Shazam First Thunder I love Shazam a lot and I especially love Billy and Clark's relationship. While this is a somewhat old comic - 13 years - I would love if if the Shazam solo film took some elements from this film. The villain will definitely be the same, surprisingly enough, but I want Clark in the film too. Granted, Billy will be in a good foster home in the film, but he can't exactly tell his foster parents about his powers, can he? Though, a brief team-up mid-battle would be quite fun to see on-screen Oct 11, Colona Public Library rated it really liked Superman Shazam First Thunder Shelves: graphic-novel-young-adultashley. This seems to be a one shot book, it wraps up nicely at the end but left it open ended enough if more of the series happen to pop up. This came out in so I doubt there will be anymore but this ends pretty clean. I thought this was really cute with Superman and Shazam! Both Clark and Billy Superman Shazam First Thunder sweethearts and seeing the end really breaks my heart.

Captain Marvel Jr. #4, (Feb. 19, 1943). Inset bottom is Raboy’s first and his kid sidekick Bucky. It was during the fall of 1941 that Herron came cover for Fawcett and the first of the CMJr origin trilogy, Master Comics #21 (Dec. 1941). Below up with the idea of a new addition to the Fawcett family. With Captain is a vignette derived from Raboy’s cover art for Captain Marvel Jr. #26 (Jan. 1, 1945). Marvel sales increasing dramatically since his debut in February 1940, Fawcett management figured a teenage version of the “Big Red Cheese” would only increase their profits. Herron liked Raboy’s art very much, and wanted a more illustrative style for the new addition, as opposed to the C. C. Beck or Pete Costanza simplified approach on Captain Marvel. The new boy-hero was ably dubbed Captain Marvel Jr., and it was Mac Raboy who was given the job of visualizing him for the very first time. Jr.’s basic attire was blue, with a red cape.

  • Crossmedia Adaptation and the Development of Continuity in the Dc Animated Universe
“INFINITE EARTHS”: CROSSMEDIA ADAPTATION AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONTINUITY IN THE DC ANIMATED UNIVERSE Alex Nader A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS May 2015 Committee: Jeff Brown, Advisor Becca Cragin © 2015 Alexander Nader All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Jeff Brown, Advisor This thesis examines the process of adapting comic book properties into other visual media. I focus on the DC Animated Universe, the popular adaptation of DC Comics characters and concepts into all-ages programming. This adapted universe started with Batman: The Animated Series and comprised several shows on multiple networks, all of which fit into a shared universe based on their comic book counterparts. The adaptation of these properties is heavily reliant to intertextuality across DC Comics media. The shared universe developed within the television medium acted as an early example of comic book media adapting the idea of shared universes, a process that has been replicated with extreme financial success by DC and Marvel (in various stages of fruition). I address the process of adapting DC Comics properties in television, dividing it into “strict” or “loose” adaptations, as well as derivative adaptations that add new material to the comic book canon. This process was initially slow, exploding after the first series (Batman: The Animated Series) changed networks and Saturday morning cartoons flourished, allowing for more opportunities for producers to create content. References, crossover episodes, and the later series Justice League Unlimited allowed producers to utilize this shared universe to develop otherwise impossible adaptations that often became lasting additions to DC Comics publishing.
