2017 4-H Program Registration/Participation Requirements

Bobbi Jo Newland is the St. Joseph County 4-H Driving Program Coordinator. Bobbi Jo, assisted by Danielle Sackrider and Cassie Lewis will conduct the driving workouts detailed below, and are authorized to determine which 4-H members have met the Driving Program participation requirements, and whether or not they are prepared to participate in driving classes at fair. Participation Requirements: Member must participate in at least two (2) 4-H Horse Council-sponsored driving workouts by August 1, 2017 unless otherwise approved by Bobbi Jo Newland, Danielle Sackrider and/or Cassie Lewis. If qualifying two (2) project animals, you must attend two (2) driving workouts with each project animal unless otherwise approved. Members may also drive a pair/team of /ponies/miniatures their first year if approved.

New Driving Members: If you are new to the driving program it would be beneficial if you attended the first months of workouts since this will be the best time to get the basics down. The later months are getting ready for fair.

4-H Driving Workouts: The 4-H Horse Council-sponsored "hands-on" driving workouts for 2017 will be held at the fairgrounds* in Centreville on the following dates:

* Please use the Franklin St. entrance by the race horse barn.

Note: You must have a negative Coggin’s test with you before entering the fairgrounds.

Reminder: Workouts will be cancelled if there is a Thunderstorm Watch/Warning, Tornado Watch/Warning or a Heat Advisory issued two hours prior to the start time of the workouts.
