Weekly Report PRCS’ Operations Room 21 October- 28 October, 2011

Main events monitored by PRCS’ Operations Room from 21 to 28 October 2011:

Israeli Army attacks: Israeli attacks increased during the period covered by this report, as follows:

- Peaceful demonstrations against the Wall of Separation in Kafr Kaddoum, Bil’in, Beit Ummar and Al Ma’asara were oppressed, with tens of suffering tear gas suffocation. An international participant was also wounded. - 37 dunums of land were confiscated in Beit Jala (Bethlehem Governorate). - One Palestinian house was demolished in Anata (East Jerusalem). - Israeli forces continued to harass Palestinians in East Jerusalem: Al Bustan neighborhood in Silwan was raided while three offices owned by Palestinian institutions were closed down in the city. - In Iskaka ( Governorate), occupation forces leveled land and erected a watch tower. - An agricultural road was blocked with dirt mounds in Yassouf (), preventing Palestinians from accessing more than 2000 dunums of their land planted with fruit trees. - Israeli incursions took place in Halhoul and Al Fawwar camp (Hebron Governorate), Beit Iksa (Jerusalem Governorate), Tulkarem and Al Assakreh (Bethlehem Governrate). - 28 Palestinians were arrested in Hebron, Qalqilia, Jerusalem and Bethlehem Governorates.

Continuous attacks by settlers Attacks by settlers against Palestinian farmers who were harvesting olives witnessed a rise during the period covered by this report.

- Palestinian farmers in Houwwara (Nablus), were aggressed and prevented from accessing their land. - Settlers uprooted 20 olive trees in Al Janiya (Ramallah) and 20 others in Beit Safafa (Jerusalem), leaving behind racial slogans and posters warning Palestinians not to come near that land. - Settlers chanted racial slogans and attacked Palestinian farmers harvesting their olive trees in Tal al Rumeida (Hebron).

- Settlers continued their attacks against Cordoba Co-ed school in Al Shuhada Street in Hebron, attacking a delegation from the Palestinian Directorate of Education who was visiting the school in a show of solidarity.

Car accidents The Operations Room recorded 34 car accidents in and Gaza Strip Governorates, causing two deaths and 55 injuries as follows: 2 accidents in Jenin Governorate (3 injuries); 5 accidents in Nablus Governorate (1 death and 4 injuries); 2 accidents in Tulkarem Governorate (1 death and 5 injuries, including 4 children from the same family); 1 accident in Qalqilia Governorate (one injury); 13 accidents in Ramallah Governorate (25 injuries); 1 accident in Jericho Governorate (1 injury); 4 accidents in Bethlehem Governorate (7 injuries); and 9 accidents in Hebron Governorate (9 injuries).

PRCS teams provided treatment to a number of casualties at the scene and transported some of the wounded to hospital.
